The Hewitt Wellington

The rooms are exactly as pictured and the building is very pretty. The bed was comfortable. The walls are super thin and the newlyweds upstairs may as well have been in the bed next to me. This was my second time staying in Spring Lake this summer and I strongly preferred my stay at the Ocean House. The Hewitt Wellington was unstaffed throughout the weekend, has cut 100% of their amentities, and basically felt like I rented an AirBnb. There was zero service - self check in/check out, no breakfast, no beach towels or beach chairs, nobody at the desk for directions or suggestions, no cleaning of common areas or rooms. The other hotel I mentioned had tons of staff cleaning all of the furniture as soon as you stood up, snacks and drinks available all day, a multi-course breakfast, super helpful front desk staff, and beach towels and chairs. The bed and room at the Hewitt Wellington were a bit more comfortable, but I'd choose the Ocean House anyday.

I don't understand how other people gave so nice reviews. The building itself may look pretty but not so much nice in the room. No bathroom in the lobby. When I arrived two hour earlier before check in, but they wouldn't let me use any bathroom. I paid for lakeview room but got parking lot view. Their service was not prepared and attentive. Very disappointed. I won't come back to this hotel again. Never.

We stayed there from August 27, 2010 thru August 30, 2020. The rooms were worn and old. Stained carpets, the sofa bed was horrible, very limited closet space. Limited parking, the pool was closed, no continental breakfast served. The staff blamed everything on covert 19, however after checking out we went to another Hotel down the road where everything was open. We were a party of 4 but were only given 2 beach passes. Obtaining the other 2 passes from the Town was almost impossible. It seems that the owner/ management is penny pinching at the expense of the paying guest. Your vacation money would be better spent elsewhere.

Very nice place. Beautiful area. Close to beach.
