Comfort Inn & Suites Shawnee - Kansas City

The rooms are actually pretty decent and have lots of open space to move around in. If you happen to have children with you, then you will appreciate the space. It allows a bit of separation regarding the television/living room side of the room so that the little ones can romp around some. Also comes equipped with a smaller leather sitting piece so that you can implement a time out if need be...or have the little ones tend to any schoolwork they might have. The rooms are nonsmoking rooms, and from what I could tell, it seemed like this rule has been kept up pretty well since the place didn't smell like stale smoke....or smoke at all for that matter. The staff was very professional and they were also pleasant. The general manager, Miranda, was also a tremendous help to us during our stay. She went out of her way to make us feel right at home, which made all the difference in the world to us. (The room was a little bit dusty considering the state of thjngs with this pandemic, which surprised us a bit, but all in all it was a nice stay).... They also provide a continental breakfast for the business guests which gives you some choices...cereal, yogurt, sausage biscuits, coffee, tea, juice, hot cocoa, oatmeal, etc...

I was very disappointed in our experience.nWe were with a wedding party. The bride had spoken to the hotel weeks previously to reserve a ‘block’ of rooms for guests of her wedding. The night of, those who were drunk and wanted to book a last minute room were told they had to book two nights minimum. Many guests ended up leaving - thankfully getting home safe. The rooms that were reserved prior to that night were not on the same floor and not all were next to each other. Additionally my bridesmaid dress that was left in one of the rooms was never recovered. I understand Comfort Inn is not responsible for lost/left items but the fact that it was not turned in when the rooms were clean leaves me only to believe it was taken or thrown away which is disgraceful.nI’m so disappointed the hotel would rather loose one night of revenue and risk the safety of their guests by not accommodating people who had been drinking so they could attempt to make a little more money but requiring a minimum two night stay. Borderline unethical practices. Even worst to think she had requested specifically a couple rooms open and available in case more guests wanted to stay. They received revenue from a total of five rooms and one of the rooms booked was forced to do so for the two nights. They could have been more concerned about the safety of guests who had been drinking and booked additional rooms for one night and received three to four more rooms worth of revenue. Overall, horrible experience and not a hotel that is accommodating to events or large groups. I would recommend the holiday inn that is only 10 up the road.

Hot breakfast and the pool were the reasons we chose to stay here. Unfortunately, due to COVID restrictions, these things were not available even though the rate for the room was the same. We were given a grab and go breakfast but the fruit was rotten and seeped through the bag. There were no towels in the room. There was mold in the shower and soap scum in the soap holder. These things raised concerns as to how well the room had actually been cleaned. There was also a large hole in the shower wall where they had replaced/fixed the fixture at some point. Expected it to be a little nicer since it was a newer hotel. The hotel parking lot was nicely lit.
