Hotel Renovo

Update: Well, it has been almost a year since the last time (Honeymoon). I rated it a 1 star last time. Now a 3 star. Long story, short: They charged my credit card for first night of two during our Honeymoon a year ago. It took them 12 days to get it reversed.Said it would only take 3-5 days. So, the start of our honeymoon wasn't so good. They sent us a voucher to use at a future date. So, we stayed this past weekend (August 8). Checking in - waited for about 10 minutes, as no one was at front desk. The gentleman did show up and asked for id and credit card to swipe. I informed him I have a voucher and your notes on the system for our stay would reflect not to swipe card. That was one of the major issues we had prior. It appears, they do not communicate among staff. I will not give them a 5 star rating yet. Only when we are treated with respect, will I give them a 5 star.nnLast year: Why was it poor, you ask. Well our room was pre-paid for two nights as a wedding gift. That credit card was still in the system for payment. I realize they still need a credit card when you check in. However, I wasn't expecting the first night payment on my credit card. The gentleman, I spoke with the next morning talked to me like I was trying to get out of payment, before verifying the two nights were already paid.They treated us like we didn't have the money and looking for a way out. That was not the case at all.They informed me it would take 3-5 days to see it reversed on my credit card. It took them 12 days to have it reversed. Felt like they were all about money, and not about the guests. I will never recommend this hotel to family or friends, after they treated us so poorly.

This hotel has a very fresh feeling. I really enjoyed the spacious lobby with the nice bar. The room smelled clean, looked clean and was well appointed. The beds were comfortable and the pillows were nice. The only thing I didn't really like was the super-soft water making it feel like I was all slimy after I'd rinsed in the shower. Oh well, it happens frequently in hotels. I believe they soften the water to protect the pipes from scaling. Renovo could turn it down just a bit though. Anyway, a great hotel, a nice location and very friendly staff. We'll stay here again the next time we visit Des Moines.

Absolutely beautiful. This is by far a 4 star min. hotel. Decor, clean rooms, upscale everything. Nice pool. I'd come here again in a heartbeat.

Pros-large rooms, mini fridge and microwavenCons-NO MASKS, rooms by the pool can be very noisy, too many peoplennI was very nervous about traveling right now but my husband called the general manager before booking and he assured him that the hotel was taking extra precautions due to Covid. Our room seemed clean but in the 3 nights we were here we only saw the front desk clerk wear a mask once, no other hotel guests were wearing masks, they also hosted some kind of meeting and a wedding. It didn’t seem like they were doing anything to try and limit the amount of people in the hotel and were not encouraging masks.
