Conveniently located within walking distance of Drake University campus. Next door to Drake Diner. Room was comfortable and quiet. Only stayed for one night for college road trip so cost and location worked great.

Glowing in the dark. Holiday Inn Express by Drake University is a small hotel tucked away on 24th street near University avenue. Built in 1987, it has 52 rooms spread over a two story 30,000 square foot building. The hotel, which is assessed at $1.63 million, paid a little over $62,000 in property taxes last year. Drake university owns the hotel property.

My husband and I came for my granddaughters H.S. graduation. The first night we were assigned a room that had a bench outside by our window. Smokers congregated there laughing and talking loudly till early in the morning. The next day the staff was understanding and gave us another room away from the smokers bench plus an adjustment to the bill. The breakfasts were great and staff excellent. I would suggest the smoker bench be placed away from the hotel room windows, but other than that the stay was convenient and comfortable.

I really like staying at this hotel because I'm a smoker. They don't allow smoking in the rooms but if you request a ground floor room, there is a sliding glass door in them that goes in to the open air courtyard.nIt's also right next to a fun little retro diner that serves beer and tasty food.nHotel is located in a residential area but I haven't had any issues staying here security wise.nI'll keep coming back.
