GrandStay® Hotel & Suites Valley City

I stay at grand stay hotel about 10 times a year for work. It is great, friendly staff. Restaurants within walking distance, hot tub, pool, work out room. Always clean

My son and I were traveling from Wisconsin and stayed there for the evening. Nice clean hotel with pool spa and workout room. Dog friendly. The next morning my sons’s car would not start. Since it was the Fourth of July most service places were closed. They went above and beyond to help us!! Extended our stay and accommodated our dog too. We were on the road several hours later after a wonderful free lunch. Great place great people!

I’ll start by saying the stay was initially well until I checked out & drove about a hour away. The hallways were clean. Breakfast accommodations were nice. The room was decent as well, except the shower curtain was filthy. I didn’t complain bc we were only passing through. The curtain had dirt all over the bottom. I couldn’t put my son in the shower. The night employee who checked us in was awesome, even the morning employee.. the PROBLEM CAME IN when I was charged a extra fee for my small lap dog that wasn’t even noticed of being there. I called the hotel about the charge bc it wasn’t mentioned at check in OR at check out. I told the night employee about our pet and the General manager said she charged an extra cleaning fee. Keep in mind we checked in at about 10:30-11pm and checked out at about 8:30-9. I cleaned the room behind us and the manager didn’t consider anything I said when I called about the charge. She wasn’t willing to remove it considering the short stay or the lack of communication on the hotels end. She hung up on me after being on hold as well. I’m not sure if the extra charge came after we left bc the hotel knew we were only passing through ND and wouldn’t be back for a while (now NEVER) or if it had anything to do with my family being African American, but I am disappointed with how I got treated AFTER the fact I paid and checked out. If you don’t have a pet this is the most decent hotel in the small town you will get as far as I know. But I wouldn’t stay here again due to the feeling of being uncomfortable.

It was okay, only 1 coffee pod and 4 towels for 5 people. Stayed in a 2 Queen bed room because that's all that was available, much too small for family of 5 with roll away bed. Not sure why this size room was even an option. Expected much more for the money.

The staffs hospitality was amazing! Very clean and outgoing. Thanks for hosting a great State Hockey weekend!
