It is a cozy, charming spot run by a kind couple. Accommodations are comfortable and clean (and private). I stayed here for a night when I was surveying the area and felt right at home. (Pictures shown are for the single person room.) They cooked a delicious, homestyle breakfast for me in the morning. I enjoyed my stay and am so impressed by the level of attentiveness the owners showed in making sure I had a good experience here! I would certainly stay here again.
The owners communicated with us, asking what we wanted for breakfast and if we had any dietary concerns. They called to ask what time we be checking in. They returned my call when I had a question. They stayed up late to check is in after a wedding reception. Wayne have us a tour of the room and shared his knowledge of this 1805 historic house with us. Very comfortable room. Looking forward to breakfast in the morning.
Kim and Wayne are expert hosts. They are friendly and talkative at breakfast. The meal is simply delicious whether it is scrambled eggs or Wayne's special wild blueberry pancakes. As a Christmas treat, Wayne even made us pizelles on an antique, cast-iron non-electric pizelle iron. What attention to detail and what a lovely, warm place to stay. If you're in the area and are looking for a real B and B, do check into the Truman Gillet House!
Wayne and Kim were extraordinarily gracious; they went beyond the beyond. I was traveling through on a long hike; Kim picked me up in town when I was exhausted, Wayne checked the road ahead for bridge closure. The breakfast was super good, the home comfy. I couldn't have been happier and I am very grateful to Kim and Wayne.
This is a lovely spot...nice to see a beautiful old house being cared for in such a fine manner.nIt is convenient to Bradley Field, Hartford and I-91 and I-84. Kim was helpful and friendly and cooked us a delicious breakfast. So much nicer than a chain motel or hotel.
