Candlewood Suites York

As soon as we arrived we knew we picked the perfect hotel to stay in while we close on our own house! The front staff were super nice and always willing to go above an beyond! So many amenities that make it feel like home! If you in the area I would highly recommend this hotel over any other hotel in the area. Full size refrigerators and stove top help out when you don’t have access to a full kitchen! Spacious rooms and everything was super clean! Doing laundry was included in our stay as well which was a plus when you have kids!

The front staff was friendly and welcoming, but the other guests kind of ruined it. It was very clear people were smoking LOTS of marijuana throughout the day. The third floor and elevator reaked of it. I am not against people smoking it, but it should be done in a way that the rest of us don't have to smell it. There were people loitering in the parking lot as we were checking in, smoking what appeared to be a hookah, but their red, glazed eyes said it wasn't just tobacco. They were also very classy doing it with two infants and a toddler right next to them. Also, while there were mask signs on the doors, almost no one staying at the hotel wore them inside in the common areas, and it was clearly not enforced. The walls are thin and at night it sounds like semi trucks are driving right by your window. My husband didn't sleep well. There is no complimentary breakfast, so I had to run to the convenience store. It's a little pricey for the limited amenities. We also had our dog with us (which was a major reason behind us picking this hotel). I feel like we were the only ones cleaning up after our dog outside and bags were available for free. Overall, the place served its purpose. My husband got to help his family, and I got to do my daily work. I will try harder to stay elsewhere if this opportunity comes up again.

I would have given our stay 4 stars as the room was expected and the staff was suburb, professional, and made us feel very welcome with the exception of one man working the front desk. I did not catch his name at the time of writing but he was short, balding, wore glasses, and was missing a majority of his teeth. This person was inconsiderate, unhelpful, and purposefully made any interaction I had with him as difficult as possible. I am not sure why one would chose a job in a hospitality field and lack common curtesy but I can only assume in his sick and twisted mind that causing discomfort to myself, and I am sure other guests, gives him some sort of sadistic gratification. If we noticed this man working the front desk we wouldn’t even interact with him when we needed things like clean towels or other minor amenities. No guest should ever feel a stigma for requesting clean towels from a hotel employee. His behavior truly caused a negative impact on our stay and if it had only been one or two incidents I would have not paid it any attention, however, it negatively impacted the comfort of our stay to a degree that is unacceptable. I’m not sure if the management offers training on how to not be a complete d***head, but if they do, this person needs it. Kevin was fantastic as well as the women working the front desk on 09/21/2020 during the day. Kevin went above and beyond to make sure our needs were met and the women made us feel so at home it was an absolute joy to see them in the lobby. Even on her way out, off the clock, she said hi to me and good night. Management needs to give Kevin and the women a raise or at least a huge bonus because they salvaged our stay 100%.

This is a AWSOME Hotel to stay at in York pa! Very clean and pool is warm in the winter season!
