The Monarch Motel

Stayed for two nights and really enjoyed it. There was a mini fridge, microwave, as all as earplugs and a white noise machine, which was really nice. We were able to do the check in and check out process via text, which is nice since we're still in the midst of a pandemic. The bed was comfortable and the AC worked well. Also loved the location. It was within walking distance to the U of I campus, restaurants, and coffee shops. Will definitely stay here again if we're back in Moscow.

Awesome motel. Great off street parking. Service was most amazing have ever gotten at a hotel/motel. Communication top notch. Very helpful all around. If you are visiting in Moscow then you want to stay here. You did it! You found the best hotel there, so what are you waiting for? Book that room!

If there were more stars, I'd check them too. The Monarch is a boutique motel, all done with mid-century modern flair. It looks like each of the rooms (I peeked) has its own unique furnishings. Mine had great air conditioning, a GREAT bed, and felt like home, only way cooler. The hotel is across from one of the best restaurants in town and around the corner from Main Street, so it's a perfect location. And the staff was super nice. I really wouldn't ever consider staying anywhere else.

Great motel, in the middle of everything downtown Moscow. Coffee shop and eateries merely steps away. Super easy check in; contactless, they text you the code for the door. Good ice machine, easy parking, next to everything and super close to the university. Very clean, and spacious. Modern furnishings. As the motel location is at a stop light on the highway, you do hear a lot of traffic - trucks, squeaky brakes, but they provide ear plugs and a sound machine in every room which helped considerably. We stayed in room 211, which is really two motel rooms opened up into one, so we had plenty of room to play games with our guests on a rainy day! It also had two toilet/sink areas. Will definitely stay there again next time I'm up visiting my daughter at ISU!

We've stayed at the Monarch 3-4 times and are happy to support this local business whenever we visit Moscow. Honestly the rooms are not any better than you will get at a chain hotel, but the customer service is amazing. You can text them at any point and expect a prompt reply. This is a renovated motel-style facility from years gone by, but is clean and updated. It is on a busy street and you can hear activity outside (but they provide complimentary ear plugs). This time, for the first time, we stayed upstairs, which might be slightly better for those who are sensitive to noise. We've never stayed on the back side of the property, but wonder if that might be even quieter (?). The AC wall-units are sort of loud, but not to the point that we wouldn't stay here. This is walking distance to all downtown locations!nnThanks, Monarch! We'll be back.
