La Quinta Inn & Suites by Wyndham Ely

Very clean and well maintained. Attractive/inviting lobby with complimentary breakfast. Appreciate fridge and microwave in room. Bed and pillows were moderately comfortable.

Four stars = a 7 out of 10. The place was nice but had a few issues that keep it from being 5 stars. Breakfast was adequate but not great. A few maintenance issues in the room and in the public space. Insufficient parking without using other businesses parking. Overall is was clean and pleasant. It just didn't wow me.

poor customer service. when asked for extra amenities, was told to go buy across the street. really?! floor/wall sound-proofing pretty bad. can hear neighbor above and cars passing by outside. not necessarily super uncomfortable but very squeaky beds. rooms next to vending/ice machine are noisy. internet speed not bad. surprised to see such high ratings. more like two-star quality motel charging 3-star motel.

Outstanding service by Jennifer, our desk clerk. We wanted to stay an extra evening in our double twin bed room because my husband was ill with pneumonia. A single king would not work because it would expose me to the illness and he needed to sleep alone with all the coughing and discomfort. Jennifer called every possible client, even those in the handicap rooms, to see if anyone could switch. No dice, but I sure was grateful that she spent an hour on the phone trying. What a great gal to try so hard to look out for us! We often stay at this La Quinta because it's nice and has good beds and is located a hop away from the grocery store, and serves those warm cookies and milk at check in.

Cons: Front desk girl was absolutely swamped, with no assistance. She was workin' hard for the money, a la Donna Summer! I returned later to make some inquiries, but it was simply impossible with the line that long. The room was grim ~ aesthetics heavy and cheerless, stray cashew on floor, and odd smell (disinfectant spray, which I understand is necessary.) Some faint unidentifiable stains on ceiling. Pros: Beds very comfy and shower was good. Breakfast was decent and employee named Roela, working the food bar is a gem. 💎 Breakfast seating area was pleasant.
