Residence Inn by Marriott Durango

Very clean, staff was kind, great breakfast even with COVID protocols. 1BR was great for our family. Kitchen was better than expected. Wish there was more room for our luggage but that was a small detail.

We loved our stay at Residence Inn. Everything was immaculate and clean in our rooms, and the bed was very comfortable. We loved the kitchen and living room area, which is great for families. The hotel also had a sports court and we had a lot of fun playing pickle ball. Due to COVID, complimentary breakfast was provided via a takeout style but there was still a large selection with hot eggs and bacon included.

We had an excellent time staying at Residence Inn in Durango. The rooms were clean, comfortable, and spacious. Breakfast options especially the hot food were great considering the COVID pandemic going on. We also had a lot of fun using the outdoor facilities and playing pickleball. Freeman at the front desk was extremely prompt and accommodating to our requests. Overall, we definitely would highly recommend staying here.

Pros: the one bedroom suite is spacious and comfortablennCons: Where to begin. When I made my reservation, I called the hotel to make sure that my preferences were received because the website was glitching. Two simple requests: to be as far from the elevator as possible, and extra pillows. When I checked in, we were given the keys to our room...which was adjacent to the elevator. Literally the opposite of my request. More annoying was the fact that the person who took my call didn’t even record my request in my booking. Needless to say, I didn’t get any sleep because from early in the morning I was being awoken by people talking in the hallway as they waited for the elevator. Another con was the bugs. Our room was infested with little pine beetles. Harmless, but annoying when they’re crawling all over everything and landing on your head when you’re trying to sleep. The last con was the silliest—for whatever reason, they felt the need to keep my tin of tea that I purchased in town but forgot in the room. I called the next morning when I noticed it was not in my bag, but they claimed no one found it. I know for a fact where it was left, which means the housekeepers either kept it or threw it away; regardless, my forgotten belonging was not logged.nnI want to like this hotel, but my experiences were not the best. Worst was the manager, who seemed indifferent to the things that I was not happy with. Problems with a room are an unfortunate annoyance, but poor attitudes from management will ruin the entire experience. I will say that the front desk staff was very friendly and helpful.

***pet fee $75*** As a Marriott Gold member for business travel I do my best to spend the majority of 60+ nights a year at Marriotts.nnWhen I travel with my pet I filter the Marriotts on the Bonvoy app by Pets Welcome. This doesn’t give any indication of fee so when you arrive and find a fee greater than 60% of the nightly rate it feels a bit exorbitant.nnI would give them 1 star but the front desk attendant was so understanding and helpful in cancelling my reservation I do want to make sure it is recognized.nnI ended up staying at the Holiday In. Across the street which was about the same price, has a welcoming lobby, and a pet fee of $15.
