Mermaid Inn & RV Park

I loved this little home away from home. The owners are so friendly and helpful. The room was charming, and super comfortable. (The sheets were so soft). I travel with a wash cloth for my makeup because I hate to leave all my gunk on everyone's white clothes. The Mermaid offers a black one specifically for that reason. I loved that. Their little coffee area was incredibly well stocked. And the little fridge was vintage and adorable, (and now my 16 year old wants one for his room). It was a incredibly comfortable stay and I can't wait to stay there again.

As a seasoned traveler, this motel was mediocre at best. The owner is friendly, so it's nothing personal against her but with a few tweaks and clear policies; this place could be much better. The bed in our room was hard as a rock. It worked for my husband, not for me. The humidity was appalling! I've lived on the coast north of here, and on the East Coast so I get that it's humid. The humidity in the room was just unnecessary and entirely avoidable. Before I booked this room through Travelocity, I made sure to have my husband call and verify our dogs would be okay to stay there. It never was an issue technically, but the facility has no clear pet policy and it created an issue for us. Our first night there we left the dogs in the room and went to find something to eat. I received a call from the owner asking me to come back within 10 minutes because it was against the policy to leave pets, and our dogs were barking. I checked before we went, several times while we there and even since; the policy regarding pets in the room is not stated. I'll give her, they were barking and that was not okay. Then there's a black lab on site, possibly the owner's (?) that they allow to roam off leash. It did not heed our commands to stop approaching us, and didn't listen to the man either. Probably not a smart idea to let this continue, it's a liability and lawsuit waiting to happen. Overall lack of comfort, unclear pet policy, and plus the town was uninviting; I won't waste money in this area ever again.

We have stayed in the mermaids rooms on several occasions The rooms are adorable comfortable and well appointed in a fifties retro style. They are also pet friendly and thougtful!

Check in was so easy and the proprietors were very helpful and treated you with kindness. Covid was handled in all ways safe.
