The Silver Star Bungalow was amazing, it had a beautiful deck, heated floors and a very nice trail with stairs to access the main winthrop strip.

Clean room & common spaces, friendly hosts and guests, dog-friendly, and super convenient. Highly recommend!

Paul and Lisa are awesome hosts who offer a very laid back stress free experience. We paid $30 each a night to stay in the dorm room. As PCT hikers normally if you asked for the PCT discount you’d get an additional 15% off but due to Covid this year there hasn’t been the same high volume of traffic passing thru so Paul explained they couldn’t afford to offer that discount this year which we understood and agreed with however since it was still being advertised Paul wanted to be fair and honest so he offered us a cash refund for the 15% which we appreciated but declined to except. Last thing any of us wants is these types of businesses to be forced to close there doors under circumstances which aren’t there fault so I’ll gladly pay more if it helps keep the doors open for years to come.nnIt should be said that they are following all Covid government regulations by offering a clean sanitized environment, requiring everyone to wear face masks when inside, offering hand sanitizer at each entrance point and have limited capacity by 50% to ensure proper distancing guidelines are being met. Additionally guests are being spaced out to stay in different dorms (when possible) well beyond the 6ft requirements just to avoid further unnecessary contact with each other. Both Paul and Lisa are no exception to the rules even while being in there own home and do always wear masks.nnI would highly recommend this establishment to anyone needing a place to stay and would suggest not asking for any discounts at this time at least until things return back to normal (if they ever do) so others can continue to enjoy and have a place to stay in the future. We all have to do our part to help the mom & pop businesses stay afloat even if it means we all pay a few extra bucks out of our own pockets to make that happen.

Came up to stay for 3 nights 4 days while doing a wilderness first aid class near Winthrop. I had such an amazing time. lots of great conversations with the folks passing through while hiking the PCT. Everybody loving their time. I was there on a on a weekend and on Saturday night, the kitchen was alive with conversations and the smell of delicious food cooking. Can't wait to come and visit again and stay at the hospital again soon.

Definitely one of the nicer hostels I've seen. Really cute place. Perhaps a little on the pricey side (30 per bed in a room with like 10 other people), but we enjoyed our stay and would stay again.
