Jeff was great. He helped me with my problem and educated me for the future. Give him a raise.

I dropped a bike off for a simple repair. They performed it quickly and the service was priced well. They had COVID precautions in place, which is good to see in this day and age. Overall, a professional operation.

I brought my bike in about a week ago, the guy told me it was a 24 hours they said they would contact me and the squeak on my bike.nnI called three days later it was not done, I basically said why don’t you just say how long you will take.nnThey somewhat apologize I picked up my bike and Josh asked me if I was riding my bike. I said yes, I walked from my place.nnI got on my bike and there was no change to my bike, I paid 80.00 dollars to get rid of the noise.nnI immediately called and said I am returning my bike it’s not fixed!nnI called the following day and this time I spoke to the manager. He apparently knew my story and said he would work on getting my bike fixed.nnI came back again and Josh said they did me a great favor and had a receipt in his hands but wouldn’t give it to me. He stated he fixed the brakes in the back.nnI rode my bike for three days and the noise is back.nnI will never EVER come back to Mikes Bikes again!

I called these guys and ask if they could replace a spoke and true a wheel for me, they quoted me $45 and 2-days. So, I drove from Fremont to Mikes Bikes in Walnut Creek to have the work done. When i arrived there, I was told it would be $60 and up to 2 weeks to have it done! So I decided to do it myself and just bought the spoke. They sized the spoke off of my wheel. Today while attempting to install the new spoke, I found that the spoke does not mach the other spokes on my wheel!! They sold me the wrong dia. spoke. I will not go back to this place and will not recommend them to anyone.

I've gone here on two occasions for bike service. The first was to get a tubeless MTB tire mounted on a new rim, as I had destroyed my previous rim. They did the job fine, albeit for $5 more than quoted, but whatever. Wheel came back with new tire mounted but a bunch of sealant all over the outside of the tire. Not really an issue, but you'd think they would have at leasted wiped down the sidewalls. I do all my own tire mounting now, so don't have to deal with this anymore.nnSecond time I went was for a front and rear shock seal service. This was about 9 months ago. At the time, I wasn't comfortable opening up the shocks, so I figured I'd take it in. They charged me something like $170 for front + rear. Sure, high, but not unreasonable. Fast forward 9 months and about 15-20 hours of riding later, and my rear shock gets stuck down on a ride. Now the Rock Shox Monarch RC3 apparently are known to get stuck down from time-to-time, and it has to do with air leaking into the negative air chamber. So I decide to fix the shock myself. I go to tear the rear shock apart, and the first thing I notice is that the air can body is on tighter than a @!#$%. It took me 5 min with a strap wrench to get it off. These are supposed to be tightened by hand. Once everything was opened, I then noticed that there was very little, if any, grease on any of the seals. And finally, I found a gouge in the piston head seal. Remember, I had put less than 20 hours of riding on since the seal service, so the gouge was likely NOT caused by wear. And it is also worth mentioning that I had gone 3 years and probably 200 hours of riding prior to Mike's seal service without any problems.nnSo my guess is one of two things happened. Either they simply didn't do seal service on the rear shock, or they did a god-awful job and created problems instead of fixing them. I mean...I don't really know how there could be a gouge in the piston head seal, especially after so little riding. And to find little to no grease in the assembly or on the seals was pretty disappointing. So now I'll be doing all bike service myself. Probably means I need to tear apart the front shock and check their work on that, too. Also worth noting that a basic seal kit costs $25 and a full service kit (for seals + damper) costs $40 for the Monarch RC3. Cheap and easy to do yourself.nnHaven't really bought much there, so can't comment on that experience. But I won't be going back for any more bike service.
