This spot was the perfect mix of outdoor and elegance. Many different trails, right from the Lodge. We took Sunrise Mt. to the summit. Great views of Elk Lake and Clear Pond. Plus, it's a great trail for those not brave enough for any of the high peaks yet. The living room in the Main Lodge is a great spot to do some reading. The staff and guests are all great. Truly a picturesque little spot in the heart of the high peaks.

If you want to get in touch with the beauty of nature, with virtually no one else around this is the place for you. You do pay more for that exclusivity, but you will find the experience unique, and I have always found it worth it. Cabins or rooms in the lodge are available, and often book well in advance. Meals are included. Great options to bird watch, photography, hike, boat, and swim. Things are structured such that you have breakfast between 7-8 am, pickup a bag lunch, do your activities for the day, and then have dinner at 6 pm. Bring good hiking boots and expect mud. You can't bring your own boat (to help protect the lake's environment), but kayaks, canoes, and row boats are provided. The west inlet at the north of the lake is consistenly good to see birds. There are also beaver houses scattered through out and beaver dams if you go as far as you can go up the inlet. Great hikes of virtually any length are available. Sunrise Mountain and the Fairy Ladder waterfall are two of my favorites for day hikes. For a shorter hike, going to Clear Pond, and hiking up Clear Pont Mountian is a favorite. I've already booked some time for next summer, which should tell you that I continue to find the experiences worth going again.

What a wonderful secluded place to get back in touch with nature. We have been going here since I was eight....over 35 years. The cabins have a fresh new look, but the beautiful scenery, warm friendly staff and all the outdoor adventures never change. It is refreshing to enjoy a vacation without electronic and the internet. The dinner bell rings to call you to the dining room for breakfast and dinner, with a rustic lodge menu. This is a hidden gem in NY.

OMG! Stunning beauty in a semi-rustic setting. Staff couldn't have been kinder or more helpful. Gorgeous lake, trails galore, kayaks, canoes, rowboat. Extremely environmentally careful. Meals are great, wines not bad. Totally A++++
