Curley's Paradise Motel

Dated, but clean rooms.

The view was unbeatable! The rooms were totally outdated and had a certain smell to them. There was a hole/tear in the carpet in the middle of the room from wear and tear, carpet probably 20 years old. Bathroom was pretty shaky also. I stayed there in late September of 2020. I would not recommend staying there unless you bring a can of Lysol to spray the bedding.

Do not listen to all of the other reviews. I drove 5 hours to this hotel all the way from Metro Detroit. I called and, made a reservation which was taken down kindly by a sweet old lady at the front desk. We were given our key to which we drove around the building to our room, which was on the lake. See it straight from our room. The room was small, but it was tidy. There are no bed bugs! I never step foot in a room with my belongings until I check the room, and the bed for bugs first. There is absolutely no way that you could see or even get bed bugs considering that all of the beds are protected. People say these things when things don't go their way or they don't want to pay the already cheap price. Are you going to get luxury? No. You get what you pay for. We got a nice room with a queen size bed, has a coffee maker, a TV, free Wi-Fi, and a microwave. Also a shower, which is all I needed for the short period that I was here. Give them a try. I didn't listen to all of the other reviews, and I gave them the benefit of the doubt. I'm glad that I did, because you won't be able to find a room anywhere else this time of year now that it's getting warmer. It's only mid-march and all hotels and motels are already booked. So all in all I am leaving a four-star review for this motel. Had I stayed in my room longer than 5 hours I would be leaving a five star review, BUT I will be back on Wednesday as long as there is an available room! The staff was friendly, my room was clean, there were absolutely no odors whatsoever, and it had a clean, bug free bed. I was able to sleep comfortably without worry, and now I'm on my way home. Enjoy your stay at Curleys Paradise Inn! I did! I will be coming back here from now on! My original place of choice was Knollwood Inn in Newberry Michigan which was in the middle of nowhere with nothing around.. However this place is cheaper and Just as Nice also it is efficient for me for the locations I travel to in this area for my hobbies.

This would have been a great deal had they put me in the cabin that I reserved. Instead, cabins were full, and they put me in a small room, with no fridge. Office smelled very strongly of cat urine. My room smelled okay the first night because of their deodorizing spray. The next day, I could smell mold. Checkout is at 11, but housekeeping started knocking on doors at 9am, both days that I was there. The only good thing was the alarm clock with USB ports. They are pet friendly.

The property is right on lake Superior; be sure to ask for a room facing the lake. Bring an air freshener. Buildings are clearly aging but usable for a night. Bathroom was in rough shape but the beds were nice and clean. Nice choice for a place to sleep.
