Rooms had an unpleasant smell that I could not tolerate..... smelled like a grandparent's house that hasn't had a window open in years after having the carpets shampood. When alerting the front desk I was offered to check out another room which also had the same odor. The front desk attempted to rectify the situation by providing a can of Lysol disinfectant spray. Really? The tub was shallow and uninviting, could benefit from renovations. The hotel seemed out of date, and was NOTHING like I expected and the pictures online make the rooms look nicer than they actually are. I will say KUDOS to the staff and management did provide a refund with no issue at all! My companion and I stayed at the Black Bear sister hotel that night and was promptly refunded by the Academic Suite manager.
Love the rooms with the view on the river.nStaff is amongst the nicest I have met, very genuine, not under corporate pressure to smile like in big hotel chains.
Definitely recommend this place.nI stayed here with my wife for 3 days. Staff was very friendly and active.nFree breakfast, wifi, parking and swimming pool.nThey kept whole place very neat and clean.nThey follow good hygiene practice.nUniversity area also has very positive vibes and there are lots of good restaurants and places you can visit by walk.
Comfortable inn near the University. Pleasant check-in, clean and well appointed rooms. Clean linens. Lost one star because mattresses are worn, sunk in the center. Time to get new mattresses.
