Hawthorn Suites by Wyndham Rome

What a neat building! My family and I were just driving through on our way to TN and needed a place to rest for the night. Many hotels in the area were booked because of events happening in and around Rome. We were able to snag the last room available because of a cancellation. We were offered a handicap room so it was very spacious and had a great view of the River. The hotel is so neat inside. Great beds to sleep on. Breakfast was alright. They have hot and cold options for $6. Would love to stay again and explore Rome

Great old building that has been turned into a modern hotel while maintaining the historic look. High open ceilings inside and old original floors under your feet. The bar is a relaxing place to sit awhile and have beverage (full bar) and/or bite to eat. Food is reasonable priced and good.nDo a little exploring in the hotel, you will find several different places to sit and relax while taking in the history.nRight in the heart of many things to do downtown.

I’m reviewing this establishment’s communication abilities, which are very poor. My wedding planners and I have been trying to reach the hotel manager, whom we have been told handles room blocks, for over two weeks. We’ve repeatedly left messages both with her and the office staff. I’ve had a staff member tell me she was on vacation, while another report that the manager was on-site, just busy. I’ve never experienced this level of subpar customer service. I’m happy to seek out a more responsive hotel for my wedding guests.

Although we were happy with our stay at this hotel overall, I do feel that there were a few things that could use improvement. First the positive:nn1. The beds were comfortable.n2. The first floor is absolutely beautiful. The old wood flooring, brick walls, and skylight ceiling were all very beautiful.n3. The convenient access to the bar/restaurant, salon, and fitness center on the first floor was nice.n4. The staff was very friendly and helpful.nnThe negative:nn1. The rooms were misleadingly on the smaller side for what we paid and what we believed were getting. We had the two bedroom/ 2 bath with kitchenette. From the pictures I believed it was going to be a heck of a lot bigger than it was. The angles in the pictures are cleverly taken to make you believe that the kitchenette and living space are far more separate than they are. This is actually squeezed into one space that I would say is a 10x10 room. The main bedroom was a good size but the second room with the queen bed was tiny.nn2. The cleanliness was not on par with what I was expecting. Although it wasn’t a dealbreaker for us, some of the cracks and corners, like in the bathroom for example, were visibly caked with junk.nn3. As I saw other reviewers mention, the floor is super awkward and uneven in a lot of spots. In places where it should be flat you can feel a noticeable height change when you step and the floor creaked horribly.nnAlthough it wasn’t exactly what we were expecting we quite enjoyed our stay.

Staff was very nice and accommodating. Room was pleasant and spacious. Offered complimentary bikes to tour the cute city and offered breakfast to be delivered to the room despite the elevator being out of commission.
