Casa Del Gavilan

As a FAA employee we stay anyplace we can near the job site, but this was a special surprise and delight as the front of the building faces sunrise with large picture window. The peace an quit was a great for a working night rest I hope to get to go back on my own vacation and spend time on there hycking trails taking in the sites. Also we never got to have breakfast prepared for us. Very nice Kichen an dinning rooms. My stay was several years ago 2017.

It's a miilionaire's vacation home from 110 years ago, preserved in period detail. The many sculptures and paintings are western: cowboys, Indians, and lots of horses. The courtyard is a garden paradise, perfect for yoga or meditation.

We came for a quiet retreat away from the busy city life. We couldn't have been more pleased. We saw so much wildlife around the property and had a great time exploring the beautiful home. We couldn't have asked for a better experience and look forward to returning in the future.

My family has been coming here for years. The recent updates really enhance the historic nature of the property. Some of the rooms are small and they have the quirks of a place over 100 years old. But you can't beat it for character or views. The breakfasts are really good and there are fridges and a communal kitchen for guests if you don't want to eat in town. It backs to the Philmont property, but you aren't supposed to hike on it. There are plenty of hiking opportunities around Cimarron.
