I'm almost a bit reluctant to recommend this small gem, since it feels like such a good find it should remain secret. I've stayed here twice so far, in May of 2015, and April of 2017 while visiting family. It's modest, but sparkling clean, and the carpets, bedding, and decor were crisp and comfortable. The bathrooms just had showers - not baths, but they had good hot water and really nice tile flooring. The WiFi and TV worked well. There was a coffee maker in the room, if I remember correctly, but better coffee in the dining area, which is a small room with tables for their continental breakfast. It's open all night with hot water, tea, coffee - as I mentioned, and a microwave. The man at the front desk was eager to help with anything I asked for in the small public kitchen, and they kept the breakfast offerings meticulously stocked in the morning. Lots of magazines in the lobby too.nnThe man at the front desk was lots of fun to chat with. In fact, I had to tear myself away to visit with the family I'd come to visit since we turned out to have a lot in common. There was a small cadre of Russian tourists staying there too, who were fun to talk with over breakfast.nnI'm not a fan of extravagant hotel rooms - all the amenities laced with hidden charges, such as mini bars and overpriced phone calls. My uncle stayed in the legendary Plaza Hotel in NYC once, and although the views were spectacular, we were all amazed how crummy the exorbitant room itself was. This is nicer! - though there aren't any views - and less snobbery, of course, too.nnIt's not the most ideal location, nestled along one of Long Island's major (trucking) arteries, Jericho Turnpike. You can't really walk easily - or perhaps safely - anywhere nearby from it, although there's a Seven Eleven next door and a large Target down the road a bit towards the Walt Whitman Mall. Like most of Long Island, you'll want to travel around town by car. The rooms on the back are quieter and a bit more peaceful, so you might want to ask for one of them if you're a light sleeper, because of the traffic noise. They were quick to point that out when we checked in. If you want a flashy suite, this isn't the place, however, it's one of the best comfortable, cozy, and friendly deals in the area. It's a budget motel, but it's so well kept you won't feel like you're in one. Many of Long Island's alternatives have just become exorbitantly overpriced, in comparison with other suburban areas of the country.nnI hope they manage to last awhile, because I hope to stay here again during my future family visits.
