We stayed at the Mouton Plantation Bed & Breakfast for my birthday. We stayed in the Voorhies Suite. The room was very comfortable. We liked the access to the front porch and the swing. The bed was comfortable. We enjoyed breakfast both days of our stay. The location of this bed and breakfast can’t be beat. It is convenient to everything. The owner of the property was available and helpful and quick in assisting with all of our needs. We enjoyed happy hour with a mint julep. We especially liked rocking on the rocking chairs on the ground-floor porch. The staff were friendly. I will stay here again when visiting Lafayette.
It was a nice place to stay in a good location. It was nice to be greeted with a glass of wine upon our arrival, which during their happy hour. The breakfast was delicious. The bed was not the most comfortable, a little on the soft side for us with a plastic mattress pad underneath the sheet. While the room was a little tired, it was well equiped with good seating, a good refrigerator, microwave and coffee maker.
A friend and I decided to stay at the Mouton plantation, first I have to say everyone was very kind, accommodating and friendly. The Bourbon cottage was cute,cozy, clean and had a swing and rocking chairs that we enjoyed having on the front porch with our coffee. The beakfast was nice, and the table was set beautifully. However the entire place looks some what ran down and not well maintained at the moment, cracks , peeling paint and stains on the walls were just a few things we noticed. The garden area was covered in dead plants and did not look as described online, the fountain did not work and some doors did not properly lock. Every inch of the place needs fresh paint and TLC. We also did not get a tour, but we were allowed to look around our selves, it just would have been nice to actually learn a little of the history of this place. If you are around the area I would recommend staying, no its not the best but, the cleanliness, comfort and hospitality of the place and staff member's make up for the cosmetic issues in my opinion. Even though it was not exactly what we were expecting my friend I and made some great memories and will be back, we just hope some updates are made and we can enjoy the beautiful garden area we were expecting.
What a breath of fresh air to stay at such a lovely place! We were in town visiting family and thought it would be fun to try something different. The 4 of us stayed in the Voorhies Suite and it was just perfect. We had balcony access to expand our living space. The breakfast was delicious...we had biscuits, eggs & gravy one morning and French Toast the next. Both mornings we were served fresh juice, coffee and fruit. What a great way to start the day! Beautiful grounds and friendly staff. We will be back!
Really nice staff and charming grounds! So much history in this place. The chef is delightful and made us the BEST breakfast both mornings we were there. I love that it is pet friendly!
