What's good about this place:nn1. Staff is extraordinarily pleasant and kind.nn2. Across the street from the Cumberland Island ferry - no problem getting there at 8:00 a.m. when the visitor center opens and the boarding process begins.nn3. Lovely veranda overlooking the main intersection in St Mary's - river views, people watching, cool breeze.nn4. It's a very pretty hotel.nnWhat's bad about this place:nn1. Tiny rooms, no closets, thin walls.nn2. Noisy saloon below. Hotel is on the main corner of this tiny town, where loud motorcycles and muscle cars cruise.nn3. Our windowless room had a very loud toilet that couldn't be turned off. Opened to an interior corridor that was under construction.nn4. It is not inexpensive.

We had a late check in and everyone was very accommodating, kind, and eager to make our short stay as comfortable as possible. The room was impeccably clean and had the classic look we expected from an old, historic building. The work they have done to restore it is fantastic- the original details were stunning! It is quaint and close to the water, ferry, and walkable to historic St. Mary's. We will be back!

Great place to stay. Historic, yet comfortable. Understand there may also be a ghost resident as well. We didn't see or hear anything out of the norm but.... Room was clean and comfortable.

We spent one night here before catching the early morning ferry to Cumberland Island. The hotel was perfect. The room was really comfortable and well done. The beds and pillows were comfy and clean. Staff was friendly. Grab and go continental breakfast was sufficient given Covid protocols. We loved being right next to the river and docks and being able to walk to dinner and the visitors centers. I’m so glad we decided to stay here over a chain hotel near the interstate.

Stayed two nights in room 12 (Martha) over Valentines Day and it was wonderful. Corner room with amazing view on both sides. Staff was very nice and helpful with information about the area and about the facinating history with the hotel. The food and bar area were welcome additions.
