This Inn is fantastic. The staff is friendly and helpful from Otillia at check in, Neal who makes the most incredible eggs, to John and of course Rick the proprietor who is so knowledgable about the area. These are folks who live in the area and take pride in the Inn. The rooms are elegant, clean, which is so important in these times. The Inn is 1 block from Thames St. which makes walking through this historic district just wonderful . You are missing an incredible experience if you don't stay here. We return often and have NEVER been disappointed.
We had an excellent stay. We were immediately greeted and provided a nice beverage after a long drive. I had requested a special room and our accommodations were met to an unexpectedly beautiful surprise. Great location and friendly staff. Excellent breakfast in the morning as well.
Very nicely restored OLD colonial house. We stayed at the Clarkston. As a person who understands renovations and good work, Rick did a great job. He is an ex-builder. Very nice staff, gave us a choice of rooms, very nice breakfasts, centrally located. Rick asked if everything in our room was OK. They had working fireplaces in this a Clarkston house and provide DuraFlame logs. Very romantic. The tiled shower in our room had both a ‘high’ and ‘low’ shower head. Never saw this before but a great practical idea. Rick gave his recommendations on dining and Newport sights. No complaints. The bad reviews probably come from New Yorkers who always have demeaning and irritating comments.
