Fairfield Inn by Marriott Albany University Area

Check-in was great. The agent checked us in promptly, asked us if we were hungry, which we were, and offered us menus of places open late. The food was fairly good too for a late night spot in a college area. The beds were comfortable & the room was quite. The only thinks that made me a little upset (but not enough to leave a bad review) is that the hallways, especially on the 3rd floor reeked of Marijuana, which I understand the hotel only has so much they can control with their guests. In the room I was unhappy with the cleanliness of the shower. There was some hairs on the walls of the shower and a little bit of what looked like blood on the far wall. Their shampoo & conditioner I used because it was Paul Mitchell, but I didn't realize it strips hair so it pulled the color from my hair. No big deal because I was due to get my hair done anyways, but I definitely stained their pillow case with my wet hair that was stripping. The breakfast is just a muffin, apple juice, an orange, and a yogurt. Unfortunately the yogurt contains gelatin, so it is not halal, vegetarian, and obviously not vegan. The orange was impossible to peel so it went in the garbage, maybe consider apples instead. There was also a small stain on the comforter when we checked it. Oh, and part of their hotel's name light was out, so I almost missed it from the road. Also watch out for the pot holes outside! Overall though, I'd stay there again.

Place is reasonably clean.nBut they have this kind of rooms that are connected by two thin doors. People talking in next room can be heard very clearly like they sit right in front of you. If you forgot to lock the door on your side, it’s going to be a problem.nShower water is lukewarm.only toilet paper, no box tissue in the room.nFront desk not there in early morning. We yelled out in the main lobby for a good 10 min, nobody answered.nI’m here for 3 months travel assignment. This is my 2nd week staying here.I book 3-4 nights a week. But I’ll have to see how it goes this week. With a thin wall like this, I cannot sleep after 13 hours on my feet and certainly won’t have energy to work next day. May need to cancel booking for next week.

Great value, super friendly staff. They need to get their signage fixed. It's hard to find the entrance at night. There was also a huge pot hole in the lot. A cone would be nice until a repair can be done. The room was great, and I love the central location.

The room was ok, could’ve been better cleaned had dead stink bugs all over. Bed was comfy. Hallways smelled of smoke. Evening staff at check in was great and accommodating. The general manger could use a refresher on customer service though. She was very rude and not helpful then when I asked for the regional managers contact information she refused to give me any. And insisted that she was the top of the chain and that I couldn’t talk to anyone else. She also said she would be adding points to my Marriott account that equates to a free stay. But when I followed up on the points she said she had to check to make sure it was alright to give me the points. Why tell me you can do something if you can’t?

Great staff, great accommodation at the the hotel so you don't even have to leave. Close to to Hwy but not noise close. Place to eat and go close by. GREAT CHOICE OF PLACE TO STAY! ud83dude42
