Big Butte Mountain Retreat

We hosted our wedding alongside 19 of our family members and closest friends here the first weekend of October and we are SO glad we did. The Big Butte was everything we could have imagined for our wedding day and more. Before booking, we were made well aware of the rustic nature of the cabins. The accommodations themselves may not be for everybody, but for those that enjoy the outdoors and nature like us, we LOVED it. Some cabins/rooms lacked cleanliness more than others, but overall, we had no real issues. The main lodge kitchen was fully equipped and there were plenty of bathrooms for everyone. But the best part of the Big Butte is the outside. We had a fire going in the firepit all weekend, enjoyed fishing at the river and ponds, played outdoor games in the big field and loved grilling out. It was a cold weekend but there are tons of space heaters and we loved using the wood burning stoves inside, which wood is provided for. We had our ceremony up at the John Wayne Butte and the views are absolutely incredible.nnFrom the time we booked in December, all the way to our wedding day, Pat was extremely helpful in every aspect, answering my many many many questions and emails! Before we booked, she allowed us to come tour the property and I highly recommend doing so. The wonderful caretaker, Bob, was there to show us around and answer all our questions.nnIt was truly an amazing, unique and fun experience staying at the Big Butte. We cannot wait to come back with our families again.

We had my sister's wedding here and it was perfect! The property is gorgeous, the cabins are rustic and very nice, and the caretaker is incredibly sweet. We loved our time at Big Butte Mountain Retreat!

They property is quite beautiful especially with the creek on the property as well as the pond. There were some apple trees on the property hate we missed them being in season but did enjoy watching the baby bear or juvenile black bear climbing the apple trees for the apples.

Possum footprints on our bedsheets. Rat spotted in the kitchen. Many broken doors and windows. Holes in floor covered by plywood. Outdoors is beautiful. Sleeping arrangements are not.
