Stayed here a few times. Great if hiking up Daniel Boone Scout Trail. Head just a few hundred feet up the trail from the shelter turn off toward Calloway Peak and look to right. You will see the remains of a plane that crashed there in the 1970’s. It’s all still there. Pretty surreal.
Great spot to camp with a nice view. Large enough for 4 adults. Only a short hike up to Calloway Peak and just a couple hundred yards down the trail from the 1976 plane crash remains that still sit just off the trail.
