Mr. Handyman of Virginia Beach

Used Mr. Handyman of Virginia Beach to repair a whole in the fiberboard behind some siding. First, they had to cancel multiple times because of weather, which is understandable, but the communication to re-schedule was lacking. When they first cancelled they stated they would call me the next day to confirm a new appointment, but never called. The technician they sent was Eric, which was great!!! (And the only reason they got 2 stars instead of 1). While I thought it was a simple whole in the siding, he found termite damage. Prior to looking for more damage he worked with us to ensure we were ok with the scope of the project getting expanded. However, the office send us a new quote, which did not explain in detail how much more we would be spending. They ended up sending another technician to speed up the work, but never explained to us that would cost more. Unfortunately, Eric was not able to finish the job in the day and they had to come back another day. Without communicating to us he called, then quickly showed up the next day when we were at work and could not access the area. No other follow up to properly schedule a return was done, but the next day they again called wanting to come out within the hour, again we were at work. Finally, I called and spoke to Tim (the owner) to pay our bill and re-schedule the appointment. He was rude and made it seem like it was our fault the job was not already completed. Then, when I said I’d like to wait to pay the bill until its complete, he stated that each day is a new charge and it says it on all of the paperwork, which is actually not true, because its not on the quote, but on the invoice, which are two different things. Ultimately, we decided to finish the job ourselves instead of getting charged more. Overall, the actual work was completed well and professionally. The communication and customer service from the office was terrible and severely lacking.nnAlso, he asked about my military service because they provide a discount to active and retired service members and he asked me. Without really thinking I said yes, but then when he started questioning me and figured out I was a veteran and not active or retired he got upset and was condescending about being a veteran and not retired.

Mr. Handyman went above and beyond to work with myself, my tenant, and another company to quickly tackle a water heater install which required modifications to a space. Every point of their operation was flawless and fluid. For my property they will be on speed dial, guaranteed!

I have been so impressed with Mr. Handyman--from the office staff, to the owner, to the repairman everyone I have worked with at this business has been phenomenal. If you are a homeowner you probably understand how difficult it is to find someone who is reliable to do quality work. Mr. Handyman is reliable, professional, and efficient. The work was done right the first time and we had no problem scheduling the work. When we needed additional repairs we chose Mr. Handyman right away and they got us on the schedule after just an email (I didn't have to follow up multiple times like I often do with other professionals). I cannot recommend them enough--Tim is a veteran and also offers military discounts.

We had a broken casement/crank mechanism on one of our windows and window could not be closed. We live on the third floor of a condo complex. Me Handyman came out same day and diagnosed problem, took out the feet I’ve part, got the window shut and the new part ordered. Will definitely use them again

Had a piece of trim coil replaced at the top of our roof. The service members were early, fast with the job, and the price was right in the middle of what they quoted. Would recommend to anyone for this type of project.
