Excellent service!! Megan was so helpful with finding the perfect bike for my boyfriend. We got a bike rack as well and she did all the work making sure it fit perfectly to my vehicle! Megan’s customer service felt more like shopping with a good friend then a sales representative. She really made our experience 5 stars! I will definitely return for all my future bike needs!
Stopped by Conte's today to look for some ideas on new bikes for my wife and I. Curt greeted me and I explained to him that neither of us have much experience riding, but that we would like something we could use both on the road and also on trails. Curt recommended a hybrid style bike, and explained why it would fit our needs. He took the time to answer every question I had and even show me examples on other bikes throughout the store. He also brought up some things I didn't even think to ask about.nnWhen asked what budget I had in mind, I said money was not an issue and Curt never tried to up sell me on a more expensive bike. Instead he showed me all the hybrids available and why each one cost that amount. I asked his opinion and he recommended a bike on the lower end of the price range saying as beginners we would not notice the difference between this particular model and the one that costs almost $500 more.nnI stopped by Conte's today just looking to get some ideas and ended up purchasing two new bikes. I'm thankful for Curts professionalism and not trying to take advantage of someone new too biking. As my wife and I become more experienced riders, we will definitely come back here for any upgrades or new bikes. Thank you Curt!
We purchase our daughters bike at Conte’s and it was a painless experience start to finish.nnConte’s was our third stop pricing and we found the bike that was the best fit for her there. We still checked two additional local bike shops and out of the five places Conte’s was hands down best service and selection.nnThey also had a special cross bar that adapted her ladies bike to her car / bike carrier. The lock and helmet were on hand with good selection as well.nnCurt and Meagan both were very helpful in our selection! The bike is perfect and we are so pleased with our Conte’s experience! Go there first and you can google prices and you will likely purchase your bike there.
Yesterday I stopped in at the Virginia Beach location because I needed professional advice and I wanted to check out their selection. I spoke with a sales person who basically said because of my weight I was limited to this single bike model. After a test ride which really made me want the bike he said this was the last bike that they had of this model. I stared at the bike for a few minutes trying to make sense in my head of the $389 price tag. After about 5 minutes they said they could take it down to $339. This sudden drop of price was suspicious. Since I was limited to this model I asked if I lost weight could I trade this bike in for another bike. He said yes they do take trades and they use bicycle Blue book to determine value. I told the sales person I really like the bike but I wanted a day to think about it and after making sure that salesperson who helped me would be there tomorrow I said that I'd be back tomorrow to see him.nnLater that evening I did the normal research that I do before any large purchase. I found out that the salesperson either lied or just didn't know the manufacturer. The salesperson said this bike would be on bicycle Blue book it is not. In fact bicycle Blue book doesn't have Kent bikes at all. He told me this bike was the only bike in the shop which could support 300 lbs but the manual which I looked at said 275 lbs max weight. The manufacturer of the bike had a newer and better (more wheel spokes 48 vs 36) model of the exact same bike listed for $249. Kohl's had a price of $233.nnToday I went into the store and there was three of that same bike there. The bike they said that they only that one of. One of the bikes even had had a huge dent in the rim and the price tags were all still $389. I waited patiently for 10 minutes for a sales associate. I asked to see the manual of that specific bike, an associate got it out for me and handed it to me. I confirmed with that particular manual for that particular bike that it said 275 lb Max weight. This is a safety issue and they lied to me about it. Another sales associate walked up to me about 5 minutes later and I explained to him my confusion with their price and the amount of spokes, how they said this was the last of their bike and there's two more today. He said that if you can buy it somewhere cheaper than do that. It was clear they didn't want my business. I really wanted to find a store that I could buy bikes for myself and for my kids. In my limited experience it seems they just are there to make a sale and they don't care about their customers safety.
Honestly, the best bike shop I’ve ever been to. They are knowledgeable, welcoming, and respectful. No elitist mentality here, which is refreshing.nnEdit: Additionally, if you need a bike fit see Stefan. I’ve spent years uncomfortable on my bike and I am finally optimistic in finding comfort on my long bike rides. Andy has also done an awesome job of getting my bike fixed up and ready to go in a timely manner. I can’t say enough good things about this shop.nnThanks, guys!
