The Ritz-Carlton Residences, Waikiki Beach

Spectacular! I read reviews of this resort prior to arrival. A few previous guests mentioned proximity to ocean as being a drawback of this property. I found this however to be an advantage. Ocean front resorts in this area are crowded and noisy. This resort however was tranquil despite being steps away from all that Waikiki has to offer. There are also unobstructed views of the ocean from every room. Every staff member I encountered was friendly and hospitable. I encountered a small issue upon check in that was promptly handled with the utmost professionalism by the property manager Mary Jane. I will make it a point to stay at the Ritz Carlton in the future b/c of the fantastic experience i had in Waikiki. Thanks.

Awesome infinity pool and hot tubs. Great views of the beach. Nice sized rooms. Outstanding customer service and hospitality along with housekeeping.nnNeeds improvement: modernizing the rooms. Room design and amenities felt very 1980s/1990s despite being clean. The shower could be bigger- it was extremely compact (Japanese style).nnWhy no room service?!? This was extremely disappointing and surprising considering the Ritz is a five-star hotel.nnLots of surcharges. The $250 charge to rent the private pool cabana area when we’re already paying $1000 / night and spending $10/beer at the pool feels really excessive. It should just be first come first serve.

We (myself, wife, son, and daughter-in-law) stayed at the Ritz Carlton Residencies, Waikiki Beach from 2/6/2021 to 2/13/2021 in the suites. Overall we had a good time during our stay. The hotel staff members were all very courteous and responsive for the most part. Our dissatisfaction largely stems from what occurred following our stay.nnOn 2/8/2021, I started to experience an itchy rash on the inside of my thighs. While it was mild at first, I attributed my symptoms to possibly allergic dermatitis given I’m visiting a new environment. I did not pay my symptoms too much attention at the time because I figured this would likely resolve with time and I wanted to focus on my vacation in Hawaii.nnHowever as time went on, the itching and the rash worsened and spread to the buttock region. No one else in my family had similar symptoms. I did not use any new detergent, or wear any new clothing or try new lotions. I did not eat anything out of the ordinary. I went everywhere my family members had gone during the trip. The only exposure that was different was I did spend time laying and sleeping on the couch.nnAfter the trip and our return home, the itching became unbearable and the rash had worsened. I visited the local urgent care and was diagnosed with scabies on 2/16/2021 and was started on treatment.nnI discussed my health concerns with the Ritz Carlton after the stay because my symptoms persisted and became worse. They responded that there was no way I could have contracted scabies because it was over 48-72 hours between the last guest’s stay and when we arrived. They also stated that there were no other guests who complained of similar symptoms. I explained that I had spent nearly all of my time with my family members during the trip without any abnormal exposures, and fortunately my family is doing okay. I explained that I actually spent time on the couch while none of my other parties have, but there was no meaningful response from the Ritz. I’m disappointed and frustrated by the lack of empathy and the reasons/excuses brought up by the hotel’s response.nnI also would like to mention that during the stay, my daughter-in-law found a stain on a supposedly washed bathrobe on the first day of the stay. She did call the front desk and they were able to replace it with a new robe. We did not file a complaint about this to management because we wanted to give Ritz Carlton the benefit of doubt.nnUnfortunately while my stay at the Ritz was overall positive, their response to my infectious health condition was lacking in empathy and understanding. It is disappointing since this was the second time we stayed at the Ritz, and we stayed for 7 days in the suites this time. I sincerely hope they take scabies seriously and sanitize the rooms thoroughly.nnSincerely,nnLiu

Stayed here for 4 nights and it is one of the best in Waikiki. Location is excellent. Great view of the ocean and it is right next to the luxury row. We will definitely go back and stay here again. Their restaurants are also very good. My family had the best time.

Our experience here was phenomenal. From the moment we stepped out of the car to the moment we got to the room every single interaction was warm and welcoming. We are halfway through our stay and still want to post this because I am overly assured that there is nothing that can be done to change my rating. Special note: Mary Jay at the front desk made the first impression remarkable!!! Thank you.
