Right from when we were dropped off at the hotel I felt like we were being cared for. We stayed in the Historic Garden Suite for 10 nights and loved it. This hotel is right on the beach at what I think is the prime beach location on Waikiki. I like modern things and places, but this hotel made me fall in love with its charm and history. We ate breakfast every morning right next to the beach. We went next door to the Sheraton and rented the pool loungers and loved those. This hotel feels very peaceful and secluded, yet at the same time close to everything you would want in a trip to the Waikiki area. We will most likely go back again--maybe as soon as next year. If we decide to stay in Waikiki, this is definitely where we are going.
One of the most iconic Hawaiian hotels. Lots of history here. The rooms are the best on the island with fantastic views. Great restaurants and bars too. Very convenient to the Royal Hawaiian Center with great shopping an excellent restaurants.
If you enjoy historic hotels with lots of character, this is definitely for you. Its public areas are full of curated displays about its interesting history - plus a good array of boutiques that you can browse while strolling the thoughtfully designed and decorated halls. The views from my oceanfront room over Waikiki were amazing. The manager was immensely helpful, genuine, and friendly. The pool area is small and there aren't as many amenities or updates as newer hotels but that's part of the charm. For that reason. Make sure to get the Pink Pancakes from the Mai Tai bar. They are, hands down, the best pancakes I've ever tried. If you're looking to experience a hotel with a storied past, staying at least one night here will be well worth it!
Probably won't return, just not the luxury hotel experience I was expecting. Been here for a day and the seems to be chronic shortages of staff, pool availability, beach loungers etc. Check in was a 45 minutes wait - not what you expect at a supposed luxury resort after a 10 hour travel day with a 2 year old - no apology. Spending 50 minutes in line to get a beach lounger at 8am is not what I like to spend vacations doing....nnIt didn’t get any better, the service and interest from staff in general was minimal. That being said the manager of one pool bar by the beach was super nice and really accommodating of our 2 year old.nnThe pool situation was a fiasco - the whole queue for an hour and then see what is left (if anything) or stand in line for an hour before they open is absurd. Online booking?nnWhat made it worse is that people would reserve loungers and not use them for most of the day. This obviously was a huge inconvenience and annoyance to other guests - no one at the hotel seemed to care when I raised it.nnThere was also no business center which I found very strange for this kind of luxury hotel.
This place is beautiful. Right on the beach and a classic hotel. Beds are comfy. The continental breakfast is great and gives you a ton of food. Definitely would stay here again.
