We came to Madera to meet up & have a picnic with the in laws. We (me, hubby & daughter?). Had a cabin reserved for the night, w check in at 3pm. We called around 2 to confirm, and they did. So around 4pm we went down to check in, & thy told my hub tht the reservation has been canceled as thr havn issues w the plumbing. We wer beyond mad! Thy didnt evn have the decency to call us ahead of time. & thy did not offer anythng to make up for it. Rest of cabins & rooms where full for the night, per attendant (?). So we had to drive back home. WAS A HUGE DISAPPOINTMENT!!
This is a rustic and quaint place, great for viewing lots of birds including turkeys and wildlife such as ringtail cat, racoons, deer plus. It's kind of in the center of many trailheads. We enjoyed.
Saw the Turkeys fly up to the trees they sleep in at night. Then saw them fly down in the morning. It was awesome! The squirrels come up on the porch to try and steal the bird seed. It is so quiet and so many trees.
This overnight was done on the spur of a moment and I can't believe how wonderful our stay was here! Definitely will be going back, however it will be for 2 night's, as I didn't want to leave the cabin or the canyon! The owner's, Richard and Cora were so very kind and thoughtful people!
In May 2020 we went to spend the day hosts were great so for our Anniversary July 2020 our family came for a surprise visit to celebrate our Anniversary when they arrived the hosts were very rude pulled my husband aside and explained that they were not welcome due to them using the facilities. We had to pay $15.00 per person to have them join us for a few hours. I'm very disappointed for their rudeness but they definitely took the $60.00 even then very rude. Its very disappointing they seem like very kind people it put a bad vibe on our Anniversary getaway. Due to the way we were treated not only did they loose our business the families too. By the way I hope they enjoyed the Elk Shickabobs we gave then and the steak knife set we gave them sorry but they will not receive one cent from our family again. Very disappointed. Maybe they should update their Google website so they are all on the same page. Very sad it really is beautiful.
