Ouray Hostel

Although I am displeased with our stay at the hostel I offer the following as constructive criticism With the hope that if some of these changes are considered future guests can have a better experience.nFirst, safety. If I were a traveling as a single woman there is no way I would stay at this hostel. Please consider putting a keypad on the front door. I understand your desire to accommodate late night arrivals, but it comes at the expense of paying guest’s safety and comfort since anyone from the street could walk in.nCleanliness. Our room was not adequately cleaned from the previous guests. There was trash in the bathroom, the basin and mirror were dirty. it appeared the in-room sink has been used to clean dishes as there was food in it. The floor was dirty and needed to be vacuumed.nComfort. If you stay in room 3 the bed is extremely firm. Not my personal preference, but if you like it then it’s great. Otherwise, be prepared. The dryer ran all night long. It never shut off. Please make sure the sensor is working properly.nOther random things that as a regular hostel guest would have been nice to know ahead of time: the kitchen is a kitchenette (mini fridge, toaster oven, hot plate, microwave). There is not a staff member on-site. This information would be helpful to know on the website.nOverall this stay was a let down. If I had known some of the above things before booking I would have simply camped.nThe only reason I gave a second star is because the price point is obviously a bonus for being in downtown Ouray, and the work bench for gear is a nice touch.

The owner, Liz, is absolutely wonderful. Went far too out of her way to make me happy. Most comfortable hostel bed I've ever slept on. Privacy made easy. Quiet, despite your usual hostel snorers. Clean bathrooms, no shower but you're in the mountains so who cares? Your basic hostel kitchen essentials. Cozy common area. And right next door to a pretty dope brewery ud83dudc4c

It was an affordable place to stay, but the facilities were very basic.

Great basic spot for basecamp to adventure. Host was super accommodating for my gf, myself and our two pups:)

Our room was comfortable and clean. The bed and pillows were super great. Liz, thank you for always making us feel welcome.
