Sites well maintained and spaced. Vault toilets are cleaned regularly. Creek is amazing. We didn't use the water pump, but the one closest to us was broken. Would definitely go again. The kids saw a river otter in the creek!
Beautiful Alpine setting, not arid like the towns below. The drive to the top of cottonwood pass is scenic and curvy, about 10 mi past the campground. No showers, only vault toilets. When we were there, the only water available was from a hand pump and there was a little bit of iron, but it was drinkable.
Great location for camping. We did a week long camping trip here, the campsites are spaced out with plenty of room, lots of shade and the river is fun to play innBe warned, the water pumps were not safe to drink June 2019. I did like how it was close to great hiking spots and the town of Buena Vista, but it was also far enough away to provide wonderful night views.
Loved all the trees and the sound of running water. My new favorite spot!
Absolutely so much fun! The host were absolutely awesome and very helpful! Close enough to cottonwood lake to fish and close enough to town to pick up any extras. We throughly enjoyed our stay. The picture is from a neat avalanche slide on the way to the campground.
