Reviews
I was nervous to stay here because of all the reviews I saw but I was pleasantly surprised. The young lady that checked me in at the front desk was an absolute pleasure to deal with, and luckily I was able to check in early. The room itself was very spacious, great view of the lake. The beds were very comfortable. I would have given this 5 stars but the room wasn’t as clean as I thought it would be especially during a pandemic, the coffee pot didn’t look like it was cleaned for quite awhile which was disappointing.
First time we visited Surfside. We were looking forward to a fun and relaxing stay. However, this wasn’t the case. We checked in and went to our room where we found it absolutely trashed. The housekeeping department never cleaned it. We had to wait an hour for it to be cleaned. When we finally got to our room we were informed that they wouldn’t be cleaning it daily and it was stocked with extra items. This was not the case. We had 1 serving of coffee, one garbage bag, and 2 plastic cups, no extra towels, for 4 days as a family of 5. We were also informed that each guest would need to wear a rubber bracelet to access the pool and beach. These were not provided at check in and we had to make yet another trip to the front desk to obtain them. The ground of the resort was very understaffed. There was 1 person working at the water launch stand for a short period of time every few hours. We also found the beach incredibly packed. Very little social distancing was happening or being monitored by the staff. I felt like their should have been a limit as to the amount of time each guest could use the beach or sign up for time slots. I went to the beach at 8am and every single beach chair was “taken” with a towel that was placed on it. Not a single person was actually on the beach. If I would have guessed the towels had been there all night. This was incredibly unfair and inconsiderate. I didn’t see anyone monitoring the pool or beach and there are no lifeguards. We were at the beach for over an hour before most of those beach chairs were being truly occupied by something other than a towel.nnOn the positive note the area is great. Great restaurants in the area and sightseeing. The pool was nice and the room was updated. The cabana bar was nice to grab a drink at and enjoy the view.nnOverall I think a few more staff members monitoring the grounds for social distancing, face masks, and beach crowding could go a long ways.
Clean, nicely appointed rooms, within easy walking distance of downtown. We had our streetrods and were able to park in an underground garage if we wanted. Very reasonably priced for an overnight foliage trip.
Our stay was lovely! The staff was friendly and the room was clean. It’s kid friendly and family oriented. The room has access to a balcony which is nice to dry your wet stuff or just relax. Very close the the Lake George Village where you can shop and have a lot of restaurants to choose from. The pool area was nice and a short walk down to the lake. They also have a restaurant on site.
Great location, worst hotel I have ever stayed in. There were problems starting from the time I checked in. I asked where my room was and no one could tell me. They have a few buildings and only give you a room number, no other information about what building it is in or near. Then they give you wrist bands that you have to wear and return, if you don’t return it then you owe $20 per bracelet (we went with a 2 year old, which they require that he wear it, so we obviously ended up being charged $20 for his). There also was NO ROOM SERVICE during your stay. They claimed to overstock the rooms but we only had 1 roll of toilet paper, 4 small towels, and 2 tiny soaps for my family of 4 for the entire 4 days we stayed. The rooms felt and looked dirty, like they haven’t been cleaned in months. They didn’t have that clean hotel smell and feel to them. We also didn’t see ONE cleaning person there during our entire stay. The people who work there are just RUDE and NASTY people. I was yelled at by the waitress for breakfast because I said we were ready to order. I was so blown away that I left with my kids and went somewhere else to eat. The man at the table next to us even made a comment about how rude she was.
