The Checkered Moose Inn

We had a reunion at our home in Sherburne. Our guests filled up every room at the Inn. My husband went to check out the rooms and speak with the owner about breakfast accommodations prior to the arrival of our group of 11 people. There were several complaints. Firstly, the website said there was no availability and after phone conversations with the Inn, our guests found that there were available rooms. The website was incorrect. The website also said a complimentary breakfast would be served, which in fact consisted of the same mini muffins and bagels as had been there each day. They were left there overnight, so no one had an appetite for the small sampling of goods. They all decided to eat at the local diner each morning. The owner had told my husband that she would provide a quiche or bacon and eggs as breakfast for the guests that weekend. That never happened. And lastly, the rooms were quite small and by the time the luggage had been opened there was barely enough room to navigate around the beds. So sadly, though we love to keep our business local, this is not a place we will recommend again.

Had a one night stay . Shiela was the greatest hostess ever very accommodating. We felt at home . Clean rooms. Great coffee and a variety of breakfast items in the morning. Looks can be deceiving!

My husband and I wanted to stay near Cooperstown. The Checkered Moose had availability - a wonderful large king bedroom and bath- very well-appointed and cozy. The whole Inn has been remodeled and is lovely and comfortable. The staff is a very friendly and hospitable ; we felt right at home. Breakfast was wonderful- lots of selections - fruits, cereals, baked goodies, jams, great coffee, cream, and more. Rates are very reasonable. What a find!!

Our room and bathroom were very nice and clean. Nelli , the owner was very accommodating and pleasant. We will definitely stay here again. The whole house is absolutely beautiful and welcoming. Breakfast had a nice variety of Danish, donuts and toast. I believe I even saw gluten free bread.

Love this place beautiful rooms, and bathrooms. Plenty to do in the area. Great place to stay. Rooms are spotless .
