An excellent experience. Can’t speak highly enough of the hospitality and kindness Jim and Joy showed us during our stay.nnTo say nothing of the breakfasts! I admit to some skepticism of the second day’s hash brown meal upon first glance, but it was just as delicious as the blackberry French Toast of the day prior. In fact, lunch plans had to be pushed off a couple times due to the sizable breakfasts here!nnFurthermore, given the current situation (perhaps you’ve heard, there’s a global pandemic on) they were very good about taking prudent precautions without hindering the experience.nnFully intend to return, looking forward to visiting with them again. Until next time, thanks Joy and thanks Jim!
Jim and Joy have a Beautiful home, inside and out. They greeted us, gave us a tour of the home and our room, gave us all the privacy we wanted. They are very clean and covid conscious, and they have a nice butler pantry with water, coffee, and snacks. Breakfast was delivered right to our room and they were the biggest portions we have had at a B&B. We even said we needed to check out early and they got up extra early to still make us the full breakfast before we left. We would definitely stay here again! Thank you!
This was probably the fourth time we have stayed here. Jim and Joy feel like family at this point and they certainly treat people like it. From the cleanliness to the delicious breakfast, we felt safe and warm during our stay. They have gone above and beyond with taking caution during this crazy time. We look forward to visiting again and highly recommend a stay at the Firelight Inn.
Staying at B&B’s is something we love to do. We have found that Innkeepers take pride in their homes, are affable, and extend that pride to the breakfasts they serve.nI felt I did my due diligence before booking, reading Google reviews, but felt I needed to share my experience.nThe home is lovely, clean, and comfortable. It was reassuring that they also implemented stringent COVID precautions as well.nOur room was filled with books from patrons who enjoyed their stay, certain proof that we made a good decision to stay here.nOur stay, sadly was not. Joy was very personable, but we were taken aback by Jim’s demeanor and final interaction.nEven with smalltalk, he took a counter stance. Not aggressive, but noted.nWe talked about the warm weather and I commented that spring had sprung.nHis response was that winter wasn’t over, etc.nHe spoke of his son in Texas during their recent winter storms.nI stated that Texas does have the infrastructure to deal with such extreme weather, to which he argued with me that they did.nOne morning I was making myself a cup of coffee and Jim came out to chat.nHe mentioned we would soon have fresh ground coffee with our breakfast, I replied that it’s all about freshness.nHe responded that it’s about grinding, etc.nI hadn’t even thought about these examples until our last morning, when I recognized the pattern.nOur first breakfast included fresh fruit, freshly baked muffins, and quiche.nIt was thoughtful and what we would have expected.nI was absolutely floored when I unpacked our last breakfast.nA white lump of hash browns with cheese and CHEX cereal on it.nThe side was a hot mushy banana crumble, and a scone.nWe didn’t eat anything, packed it back up and headed to the kitchen to check out.nWe were greeted by Jim.nHe asked if we enjoyed our meal, to which I said it was something else- he took as a complement.nI clarified, stating we found it appalling and a disgrace to B&B’s, and that I was actually offended but it.nJim’s response? Laughter, followed by how much people love that family recipe for the hash browns.nThe previous interactions I’d had came flooding back and I knew further discussion about our dismay would be in vain, so we continued to put on our shoes and left.nNever once did I hear an apology as we were headed out the door. He just thanked us for our stay.nSince they’ve been in business over 20 years, I can only conclude that Jim’s demeanor has changed. Certainly one can’t operate a successful business with such arrogance.nA little humility and graciousness goes a long way.
We had the pleasure of staying at this cozy inn this weekend! We absolutely loved everything about it. From the warm welcome of the host to the comfortable suite, it was way above our expectations. Our favorite part was how relaxing we felt at all times. Another favorite was the delicious breakfast they would promptly delivery to our suite every morning at 9am, we will sure miss that! We were also very pleased with the sanitation precautions they have in place all around their home. We were there for their babymoon package, and we were welcomed with special treats for us and our future babe! The host were truly fantastic and were available for whatever we may have needed. There is a very warm atmosphere to this BNB and we cannot wait to return! Thanks Jim and joy!
