My wife and I hope to return to this lovely place! Very clean and comfortable! We had a nice, comfortable bed and a great shower-they've done a lot of updating, so all the important amenities are new and user-friendly. Great location, far from the madding crowd, with a really nice trail to explore on Clark Island. Lauren and Greg could not be nicer or more accommodating. The bar/cafe/restaurant is also very nice, indeed. Had some of the very best (fresh and local!) oysters ever, and their chocolate lava cake is exceptional! Last, and certainly not least-their doggie, Gertie, is sweet!

Craignair was a wonderful mini vacation. I was looking for a peaceful place to stay with my dog and enjoy Maine's incredible coast off-season. Not only is the inn beautiful, and situated right on the coast with gorgeous ocean views, trails and a beach just over the causeway, but Lauren and Craig were so friendly and attentive it really felt like a home away from home. They are super dog-friendly too, providing bowls, towels, treats etc. in the room. Looking forward to visiting again soon.

We did not stay at the Inn because we live locally. We went specifically for an island hike and lunch because we had heard great things about the food. Our dragon burgers (spicy, due to a special sauce, with avocado, yellow pepper, lettuce, tomato, pickles and onions and fresh, delicious slaw) were out of this world. We look forward to trying the takeout lobster bisque today. Sparkling clean dining room, all safety precautions and distancing observed, and though this time we got takeout, we would feel very comfortable eating in the dining room. Nice staff people, stunning location. Vegan and vegetarian options abound.

Just returned from a mother and daughter weekend to celebrate the coming of spring at the Craignair Inn, and could not wait a day to send a thank you shout out to owners Lauren and Greg for their gracious hospitality, individual service, and excellent dining experiences. Nestled at the entrance to the Clark Island Nature Preserve, this gem of a traditional Down East Inn has been revised, restored, refreshed with a lovely color palate and updated to suit all COVID standards. The main dining area (and large new dining deck currently in progress) offers stellar water views and local art. Rooms are cozy with each having its own personality. Between my daughter and I, we have traveled most of the world and found the dining experience at the Craignair Inn to be comparable to many of our favorite family owned inns specializing in locally sourced foods. Just wait until you try those fresh out of the cove oysters and seafoods. We ordered four different excellent appetizers, main courses, and desserts over the weekend and have plans to return to experience the rest of their menu. Ask Gregg for wine pairings; he won’t steer you wrong. Gregg also surprised us with his stock of rare specialty whiskeys, a lovely way to end an evening.nMother’s Day is this weekend, so do yourself a favor and bring your Mom for a wonderful stay. She will surely be delighted!

Simply put, the Craignar Inn is placed on a little slice of heaven on the Maine coastline. The Inn itself carries a feel of quaintness and tranquility, paying homage to its history, but with an appropriate sense of modern day where necessary. For instance, the decor is traditionally charming with a clean feel, but the food is of fine dining quality. On that note, it's tricky to find the correct superlatives to pair with the goodness we experienced on our plates. And if you're lucky enough to meet their chef, Fernando, it's clear how much he cares that your expectation of enjoyment is met, and exceeded in fact. I certainly feel that level of thoughtfulness and preparation is felt throughout the Inn, starting with the minute you meet the owners/Inn Keepers for check in. Truly, a fantastic guest experience all around! Oh, and ensure not to skip out on their fantastic Bloody Mary bar; a real delight, especially if you might have over-indulged in their rangy whisky menu the night before!
