Wonder View Inn

My husband and I just returned from a stay at Wonder View Inn - we stayed in a king room over the lobby/office. The room is super spacious (except for the tiny bathroom), and has a great view over the trees out towards Frenchman Bay and you can see Bar Island and other islands on a clear day. It is a SUPER close drive into Acadia - took us about 15 minutes to get to the summit of Cadillac Mountain from the parking lot. It's a 5 minute drive into Bar Harbor downtown, so super convenient - we didn't walk into town, but it should be walkable.nnThe room itself is a little dated, but it didn't matter to us at all. It has a beautiful wrap around porch you can sit outside on. Due to covid, there was no house keeping, but the room itself was decent and clean. There was a mini fridge, microwave, and a single serving coffee maker in the room for use. The only problem we had that would prevent us from returning is that the shower was terrible. As in, the water (although good pressure) would switch from ice cold to scalding hot without warning - several times throughout a shower. We found that it definitely was tied to whether the toilet was flushed or if the sink was being used simultaneously - which is obviously preventable, BUT it was not the only trigger for the intense temperature changes. It would also change when no other water sources in that bathroom was being used - so unsure if it that is a room specific problem or all the rooms have the same issue. Neither one of us, in the 4 nights we spent there, was able to have a stable water temperature throughout our showers - that's 8 showers that 0 were enjoyable due to water temperature.

This place is AMAZING!! They have everything you will need for your stay and more. Staffs are friendly, Mr. Tom is very nice and he recommended a great little spot to dine. Awesome views, they accommodated all of our needs, would definitely recommend!! Visit the lounge at night, it's a nice nostalgia trip and also a great pianist, Bill Trowell! Best hotel on the island

It’s okay. Convenient access to bar harbour and Acadia Park is the reason I chose it. Decent size room with moderately cleaned environment. Not the best bed but I was able to sleep for a 2-Star level. The only thing to improve is there’s no continental breakfast, I was told by the staff to go to a restaurant adjacent to the inn for breakfast which was available from 7-10 am. Then came to realise that it’s not a complimentary thing when I was physically there. Kinda pricey for a 2-star hotel without breakfast.

Figuring out which building/room we were in was a bit of a challange. Once we figured that out, the room was clean and modestly appointed. The staff were very friendly and helpful. The views are truly remarkable. I think next visit we will upgrade to the Blue Nose. Bet the views are even better up higher. Plus, there is the pool. Also a bit more upscale all together. For the price, the Wonder View Inn can't be beat!nWe also really enjoyed the Looking Glass restaurant for breakfast!
