My husband and I took a 10 mile detour off the main highway just to stay here and it would’ve been worth many more miles than that! After staying at 6 BNBs over the course of a week, I can tell you without a smidge of hesitation that this was, by far, the best one. Our room (the Mary Ireland) was lovely — filled with natural light, a king bed, fireplace and private bathroom. Upon entering the home, I felt like I was visiting my own family! Sort of like the house was giving us a hug - it already felt like home. Char offered to provide some history of the stunning home (say yes to this!) and we walked around in awe as we soaked in the details. Parking is available onsite. There are many wonderful places to sit and read, both on the main floor as well as on the wrap around porch or private porch swing (accessible to all guests!). Since we visited the week before Thanksgiving, we were able to experience some of the many holiday decorations that Char and Jack add to their home throughout the season. It’s simply fantastic. While all of this is reason enough to stay here, what you really don’t want to miss is their 5 course, 5 star breakfast. I am beyond impressed with Char and her attention to detail — she pours so much thought into each dish and really makes it her own (still day dreaming about the banana stuffed French toast that had two delightful sauces on it...for sure the best I’ve ever had). She even let us take some of her (what I would consider award winning) pumpkin bread with us when we left. If you are ever driving the I-79 I would HIGHLY suggest planning a night or two in Buckhannon so you can experience this majestic inn for yourself. On top of the incredible BNB experience, Buckhannon itself is an adorable small town with many restaurants and shops that are walking distance to the inn (as in 2-4 small town blocks). We loved shopping local and supporting small business during such a difficult year. I cannot wait for our next visit to A Governor’s Inn and will ensure we get to stay at least 2 nights this time because 1 didn’t feel like enough. Char and Jack — thanks for your incredible hospitality and we hope to be back soon!

Stayed here for the first leg of our anniversary weekend. Char and Jack were great hosts, we felt very welcome and comfortable. Our room was clean and the decor fits perfect for the house. Also, the breakfast was AMAZING. The town is cute, a lot was Closed with the holiday weekend and COVID, but we’ve already booked our return for the *hoping* strawberry festival next year!

Beautiful historic home right on main street USA. Breakfasts better than you could dream up. Warm and friendly hosts, with clean room and jacuzzi tub!

You must spend the night at this beautiful, historic home. The icing on the cake is the delicious, artesan breakfast served by the hosts.

Everything is impeccable. This is a bed and breakfast. Breakfast is precisely on time. The food is scrumptious and all home made and tailored for any dietary preferences you have. The owners will bend over backwards for you. The home is decorated in a modern sensibility but with antiques that give you a feel for the historical value. We stayed two nights and left feeling like family. We wouldn't stay anywhere else in the vicinity. Two thumbs up, and I would give it more stars if I could.
