Until these nicer hotels get it through there heads that they have to do more for breakfast then muffins and cereal and granola bars you get 2 stars.nnI travel for a living and I have already stayed at multiple hotels that have found a way to have a hot breakfast. Even if all they offer is a jimmy dean heat and eat sausage biscuit. If I wanted this kind of breakfast for the price I'm paying at this hotel I would just stay at the motel 6. I'm marking the Garden Inn off my approved hotel list till they fix this

I stayed at this hotel for 3 weeks when traveling for work. Housekeeping would pound on the door even when the do not disturb sign was on. The mini fridge in the room froze everything, and when the temperature was turned down the slightest bit, it would shut the entire fridge off and everything would warm all the way up. I did bring this up to the receptionist twice and was told maintenance would replace it. They never did. 90% of the towels had stains on them, even when I asked for new ones. The walls are so thin you can hear EVERYTHING in the rooms next to you and the hallway. If you don’t hold the door the entire time it’s closing, it will slam and literally rattle the walls.nAt the time of my stay, the freeze had just occurred in East Texas. There were 2 elevators and 1 was out of service the entire time I stayed there. The lobby area was under construction the entire time and when I initially walked in, I couldn’t hear the receptionist and she could hear me without us yelling due to the large fans airing out the floors. They should have just closed the hotel when this happened.nThe bar was closed and the breakfast/dining area was closed due to the pandemic, but none of this was advertised online prior to my arrival. The pool was also drained and under construction the entire time of my stay. The gym has mold growing on the ceiling and half the equipment in the gym doesn’t work.nThe washer and dryer were pretty old and when my clothes were finished in the dryer, they had a weird smell to them, even with the use of dryer sheets.nA few perks of the hotel: there is a lovely trail directly behind the hotel for running/walking, The receptionists are very friendly, they offer free water bottles to guests, and the hotel looks newly renovated besides the construction in the lobby.

Renovations being done
Nan P (03/11/2021)
I received a very nice response from someone saying maybe I would try them again after the renovations and THEN I would receive hospitality. Um okay.nThis is my second time staying here and I checked out four days early. Around midnight on the first night I realized there was something wrong with the air conditioner and the TV. I called The front desk and said I would like to change rooms the following day because of the TV and the air conditioner. She started to grill me asking me what was wrong with the television. I told her they were only a handful of channels and those were snowy and only half of those had sound. She said well what do you mean by snowy? After grilling me about the TV she says they’ve had a lot of complaints about it. WTH? There is no customer service anymore. She said she would try to move me the next day so I just went online at midnight and found another hotel. This is my second major incident with Hilton. The first one, the worst experience ever, in another city. This is pretty bad. I spoke to the manager this morning to let her know what it happened and she said they’ve received SO many complaints about the television but her hands are tied. I told her that they were pretty expensive to have no tv. She said well you received a discounted rate! Nice. That’s why you become a rewards member and the discount was $130 instead of $150, still the most expensive rate in Tyler! So you’re telling me Hilton cares nothing about its customers. Got it.

Clean and quiet. Furniture in rooms is outdated. Construction in the lobby but it's not horrible. Good parking.
