Harker's Island Fishing Center

Expectation management: you first need to understand this is a fishing motel -- not a 5-star hotel. Rooms are clean, the a/c works, hot water will get to you eventually, mattresses aren't great but I'm so tired after a long day of fishing that I don't care. The staff is super friendly and flexible. Millie and Sandra (apologies if names wrong!) were accommodating and friendly in the main office. Owner Rob is usually around and always enjoyable to talk to. Brenda (?) always has the sheets clean with fresh towels in the room. Staff always is flexible about late arrivals (I'm usually driving in from 3-4hrs away). My basic room was $60 a night. I just can't find a room closer than Havelock or Jacksonville anywhere near that price most nights during tourist season. And you are in sight of the Cape Lookout lighthouse -- and a short run in a boat to Barden Inlet if you're fishing (make sure you know the path -- channel is narrow and water is crazy shallow at times!). Check hours at the Fish Hook Grill 'cause food there is exception. Billy's grocery store is next door so you can quickly get groceries -- and it even has a decent tackle and hardware selection. Sea Side Galley restaurant is not far away and it has great breakfast, lunch, and dinner. I always feel like I've gone back in time a few decades before the rest of the world discovered the Crystal Coast area. Get there and experience as soon as you can -- and hope it all lasts a while longer.

I loved everything about this place. Amazing price for the quality. Rooms are a bit old, but very clean and welcoming. I would stay here again, even thought the shower head was more like a hose ud83dude02

Good place to stay. Staff is super friendly. Just a fisherman's hotel. Very quiet and relaxing. Will go again soon!!!

The roof did not leak. It had running wate ... not cold! It had a bathroom! The staff was friendly. It was way overpriced ... priced as other decent hotels in the area. Areas in floor rotted! It needs to be totally renovated or there needs to be another hotel on Harkers island. I love the area but I don’t think I will stay there again!
