Coolidge Corner Guest House

Creepy, creaky and cold.nFrom reviews I can see some people loved it I was not one of them. I look for quirky but this place felt more lazy in decor then designed. Our first night was freezing and our 2nd and 3rd absolutely equatorial.nOn arrival we were greeted by an envelope on the front door which contained our key, invoice and of course personal information. That was weird, cold and to be honest not appropriate. I value my privacy.nThe staff we met were nice and apparently the owners live in the basement.nOf our three nights we slept so badlly.the creaking floor boards and unregulated heating was a nightmare. And I mean that. Old homes creak but this felt like it should have been noted to prospective guests in advertising. It was awful. We stayed in room 13 also referred to as The Captains Room ( for absolutely no reason apparent to us). I advise asking specifically that you do not get this room. Every movement creaked. It became embarrassing and by day two felt like nails on a chalkboard. Breakfast was mediocre. Yogurt, boiled eggs paid on the table, store bought English muffinsnGreat location, very easy 20 minute train to the commons. Nice town. Would happily return but really sorry I spent three of a ten day trip in this guesthouse. It was impersonal, parts of it looked like the set of the Shinning with three adorned headless mannequins halfway up the stairs and between the cold, heat and floorboards it is impossible to reccomend. We were sorry for our money we hadn't booked elsewhere. It was cleann.

Short walk to shops, restaurants etc., and to a large and great bookstore. The rooms are clean, cozy.

4.5 stars. It was absolutely lovely and the staff were terrific. My only complaint is that my room would have benefited from a power bar connected to the power outlets because they were not in convenient locations for charging anything with a standard length phone cable.

I have never stayed at a bnb before. I was a little nervous but it worked out well. We were going to be very busy, needed a place to lay our head and that is about it. The place was clean and easy to find if the construction is done on the road that gets you to Littell Road. It was in an area close to the train. Which can get you anywhere pretty quickly. The area seems nice and people seemed friendly. Unfortunately didn't get to have breakfast the only morning I could there. The only small complaint I had was I was staying with a male friend and I requested 2 twin beds for the room but it was not set up that way. There was a king mattress on two twin beds. I roll when I sleep and he snores majorly! I put pillows down the middle to at least stop me from rolling on him. I would do this place again, nice to see they allow kids.

Friendly staff, clean property, sheets changed and bed made every day, nice free cookies and bagels every morning. Only thing that brought this place down to a 3, was the fact that the walls are paper thin (felt like having to creep around when returning in the evening, not ideal for young people on st paddy's weekend!), shared bathroom, and the fact that we never met the owners (which makes the experience impersonal). Aside from this everything was ok!
