I've been a customer there for about 3 years now. Even though I'm an hour away I regularly make the drive for the amazing level of service you'll find there.nnUltimately the thing that sets Pierre apart from other bike mechanics is ability to listen to his customers. Most mechanics will let you get a few sentences in before they start telling you what they think you should do. This is often based on their personal biases or riding preferences (carbon bikes are overrated, campagnolo is the only way to go....whatever it may be). On the other hand, you'll notice Pierre listens, listens, and then listens a little more...and then he starts asking questions...and then he starts making suggestions. No matter what your level of bike knowledge he's willing to have an open-ended conversation with you about your service needs, and treat you as an equal in the conversation.nnAs a result, the moment his wrench hits your bike he has a complete picture of what you, the customer has in mind. And the results speak for themselves. That commitment to customer service is why I always drive the extra miles to his shop.
Pierre Beaulieu at Vo2max Cycles provided amazing customer service by ensuring a positive customer experience.nnHere's my story.nnWith the shortage of cycling parts and accessories during the pandemic, I was having trouble finding replacement wheels for my bike. I had a cracked hub and my usual bike shop told me that I had to replace the whole wheel. They didn't have the least expensive Mavic's I wanted, so I hit the on-line marketplace, only to find so many out of stocks at an affordable price point. That is, until I found the exact wheels I wanted at Vo2max in San Antonio, Florida. (I live in NYC.)nnI ordered the wheels (on sale!) straightaway. I received confirmation of my order, but after about 5 days, I hadn't heard anything. So I reached out to Pierre, who apologized and sent the wheels out on the following Monday. But unfortunately, the wheels were for disc brakes instead of rim brakes so I let Pierre know that I had to send them back. Again, he apologize and said that he would send the rim brake version which he had in stock.nnFearful of not finding what I needed and maybe having to spend more than I wanted, I was glad to hear I could still get the wheels anyway. But, unfortunately, he found that he actually didn't have the right wheels. So instead, he offered a more expensive wheel set for the *exact same price*! When I offered to pay shipping, he said that was unnecessary and he would take care of it.nnNow I would've gladly have paid the shipping, but when Pierre refused, I knew he had committed to create a positive customer experience. Even though I'm all the way in New York and I may never visit his shop!nnThis isn't just a story of someone doing the right thing, it's one in which someone (Pierre) actually was doing a *good* thing. You see, I didn't mention to him that I was recently laid off and I couldn't afford to waste a single dime. Cycling is a passion and my primary physical exercise, so I knew that I couldn't do without it for my own struggling mental state. So his kind gesture meant so much more to me.nnUnless he reads this review, he may never know how he helped someone in need without being cognizant of the circumstances.nnIf he does read this, THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU!nnAnd I'll end with this. Visit and support your local bike shop as best you can. They really are the ones who can help you and understand the meaning of bike culture (i.e., always offer to help someone stuck on the side of the road, literally and metaphorically, with a tube, a tool, a CO2 cartridge, or free shipping because you never know when it'll be you).nnTL;DR: Vo2max shop does the right and good thing by honoring an on-line purchase, and providing a free upgrade to make up for an out-of-stock situation, exemplifying true customer service.
What a great bike shop the owner and staff are great,we brought my wife's bike in with no appointment with a flat rear tire and one of the employees repaired the tire in 10 minutes price was more than fair and the service was great ud83dudc4d
