Ferny Hollow: Romantic Rainforest Cottage

Super cute and very comfortable little hideaway in Volcano.nBe aware the wifi is slow or non-existent and cell signals are weak. You're on vacation - relax!nI think the only issue we had was the high humidity meant it felt generally damp and things didn't dry as well (like towels or sweaty laundry) but they've thoughtfully put a towel warmer in the bathroom that really helps on that front.nThe bed was warm and comfortable. We also loved the decor and helpful guidebooks and interesting books stashed in the cottage.

Stayed here for 2 nights in March '20 and it was such a lovely experience. I was really nervous about booking, since I couldn't find much reviews online about this location but I took the chance. So happy I did! The cottage is in a peaceful, RAINY location; it literally rained everyday I was there but this is Big Island, so no surprise. It definitely added to the cozy-romantic effect. The house was equipped with everything my partner and I could've needed within our time there. Our rental vehicle was parked safely in the yard at the house. Its definitely in a quiter, distant part of town, with hardly anyone around at any given time. But I had strong signal w my phone carrier (Ver) so no prob. If you want to be far from it all, this is the place. Get enough food and wine in town then make your way to this beautiful cottage. My only spook was the decor; the pictures just was a little too much for me; didnt give a romantic appeal. Otherwise, i definitely recommend this place to any couple!

This charming little cabin in the ferns was above and beyond our expectations for several reasons. It was super clean and very comfortable, especially the bed and linens. I slept better here than any other place while on the island. It was also extremely quiet. The kitchen and bathroom were equipped with every possible need, AND, everything worked. The thoughtfulness in the details was exceptional. Now for the good part: just before coming to Hawaii, I purchased a new and very expensive pair of prescription glasses. I somehow left them in the cabin. When I discovered they were missing (I was wearing my older pair) I checked with all the places we stayed. Aubrey texted me that she found them and would ship them to me that day. I asked about payment for her trouble and she kindly and generously refused payment. WOW! I hope the stars line up again for me to visit Hawaii because Ferny Hollow will definitely be one of my choices for lodging. Thank you!nnSide note: We hiked the crater and were not disappointed in that adventure. We ate a delicious meal at Ohelo Cafe. Yummy sandwiches were made and packed by the gas station store.

Unique location near volcano park, very nice owners. The home is small but has almost everything you need.
