Holiday Inn Express & Suites Kailua-Kona

Not clean

This is a fairly new hotel. Room (first floor) had roaches (baby and adults) in bathroom and mini-kitchen area. Transferred to another room on 3rd floor. Found baby roaches in bathroom. Wanted to go to another hotel but it was too expensive that late (Spring Break). Rust spots in bathroom. Carpets look worn. 1 of 2 dryers broken in laundry. Staff said bugs are normal in Hawaii. Gave us $50 off entire stay. Not enough for the unsanitary conditions. Manager admitted they had a roach problem on first floor. Breakfast is a bag due to COVID. Beds were comfy, but hard to sleep worrying about roaches.

It was nice, that's about it. Its in a great location to hospital and airport. Comfy beds, a pool and free breakfast

Room very musty smelling. Linens were clean, but couldn't get beyond the strong musty smelling carpet.nnFan in bathroom didn't work. Fixtures worn. Great water pressure, though.nnLocation is right in the middle of town, so that's a plus since we did our best to avoid having to spend anymore time in the hotel room than to sleep.nnStaff at front desk was pleasant.nBreakfast included was basic due to covid restrictions so we didn't take advantage of it.nnFor the price, there's better options available near by. We booked the room for an overnight before flying out early the next morning. We will not return to this location in the future for the smell alone.

Didn't think the 160.00 deposit was necessary. No breakfast buffet like advertised. I wouldn't recommend it and won't ever waste my time staying at holiday Inn again.
