WOULD NOT RECOMMEND:nArnott's lodge agreed to let 30 college kids come stay and take classes at their lodge for a program. During this time the owners and majority of the staff were obsessively rude to us. Our trip was very expensive and we were ridiculed everyday and treated like the biggest inconvenience. Our rooms were not cleaned once in our 3 month stay there and then we got charged up to $1,500 for cleaning fees, which was mostly crumbs and trash left in the apartment. We were college kids, taking college classes, we were not there to clean up every little crumb and mess we made. We were there for 3 months, Arnott's lodge should have expected some wear and tear, especially to their old, gross, and musty, accommodations. Arnott's lodge is the worst place I have ever stayed, if you are looking for somewhere to stay in Hilo, I would suggest you keep looking because this is not the friendly, carefree environment you want while staying in Hawaii. Also a few more things, Glory (one of the owners) called my roommate stupid and harassed him because he forgot to close the door to our apartment.They also scammed a bunch of students who believed they were going to be staying in a room, but they ended up having to sleep, and live in a common area that was used by 3 other people for the entire trip. These students paid the same price as the students who had their own rooms (with a door)!

Amazing tour to the summit of mauna kea. Tour guide was incredibly knowledgeable, and friendly. I appreciated his safety first approach while driving. Slow and steady, mostly because the road up past the visitor center is washboard rough. Stargazing was made even better with the tour guides knowledge of everything about the stars.

I stayed my 26th of Sep, I was greeted by and taken care of by Michelle. She was outstanding and went out of her way to accommodate me. She helped even deliver food for me in the middle of the night after a long day of traveling. She continued to help me even after her working hours, she was an excellent employee and a better person. Got it
