My wife and I had a great stay here back in November 2020. The staff was friendly and very accommodating with our last minute reservation and the room was spacious and clean. We got room service for dinner and the food was excellent. It was raining when we got there but once it stopped the view of the Hudson was spectacular.nWe'll be back!
The grounds are beautiful. The view of the Hudson is perfect. The inn maintained the architecture of the original convent. The Inn is immaculate and clean. The COVID guidelines were followed implicitly. I ordered room service 2x and the food was delicious. In table dinning was even better. Service was outstanding. The Spa was clean and peaceful. I had one of the best massages every due to the fact that the masseuse was very knowledgeable of the human body and it was medical in nature. I live locally and came here for a getaway. It was a wonderful experience and I highly recommend a stay.
Location: The views over the Hudson River and the city of Peekskill are amazing. There are a few areas to park.nnService: 5-star quality service from all of the staff. Very kind and courteous.nnSpa: Waiting room is set up as a relaxing meditation room. The massage was very calm and peaceful. The therapist even led a visualization meditation as well.nnThis is great for anyone who needs to really relax.nnPrice: Expensive. I do think for the service and accommodations the price is worth it. It's certainly not cheap.
it's a lovely location, and the onsite restaurant/bar Apropos is fabulous. the hotel and spa staff are trying their best, but for the price, the abbey inn isn't quite ready for prime time.
Just back from a two night stay and our review is kind of mixed. Beautiful hotel, beautiful property, lots of great history and amazing views. We had a premier king room which had a nice sitting area but was not overly large or luxurious. The bed was super comfortable and everything was super clean so the room was great. The gals at the front desk were awesome. Arrived between 3 and 4 PM on a Saturday and saw people sitting at the bar and we went in to get a drink and was told that no alcohol was served between 2 PM and 5 PM due to state laws not allowing the sale of alcohol unless also accompanied by food. The people at the bar just told us oh we went and got somebody out of the restaurant and they came and served us, so I don’t know why they would serve them and not us. I understand state laws but when state laws are broken for some and not others, that’s just wrong. We stopped at a winery on our way up there and they served us a $4 cheese plate so we could do winetasting so I don’t know why this bar couldn’t do something similar and be open on a Saturday? We had a delicious and beautifully presented meal at Apropos restaurant on Saturday night, very pricey but to be expected. We had a great table and the atmosphere was quiet and romantic. Unfortunately we had another bad experience at the spa Sunday morning. We had reserved a couples hot stone massage I’m only checked in at the spa a few minutes before appointment time I confirm but the check in lady that we were getting hot stone massages and then we ended up getting a standard massage with no hot stones. I was afraid to break any relaxation my boyfriend may have been experiencing during the massage to speak up and say some thing and thought oh maybe the stones are coming and we were sorely disappointed. The front desk lady at the spa was kind enough not to charge us for a hot stone massage and made it sound like she was doing us a favor?! I had researched this place so much before going and I had high hopes and I’m afraid they fell just short.
