We enjoyed our weekend stay. Get a second floor room that opens to the balcony—it is well worth the price. The sunrise views were some of the best we have enjoyed at OBX. It was lovely being able to walk to shops and cafes. We brought our bikes and rode through town and all over the island via the bike path/paved walking trail. The desk associates were friendly and helpful at check in and check out. The room was mostly clean (we found an almond against the wall that was missed by the vacuum), and we loved the antique light fixtures and decor. Unfortunately, one of the beds in our double queen was very squeaky. My husband also thought the mattress was too hard. A pillow topper would go a long way in enhancing comfort. The breakfast that was served to our room was a bit of a let down—packaged yogurt, granola bars, muffins. It is a shame they don’t provide freshly made local baked goods or fresh fruit. Attention to minor details would have made the stay much more enjoyable and would return the hotel to the luxury inn it once was. Despite the minor flaws, we’d return.

Nice inn located near small shops and eateries. Parking on site. Rooms are okay, adequate might be a better word. Could benefit from more comfortable chairs. Bathrooms in need of attention...fresh paint and wallpaper. Bed was comfortable. Staff was great, helpful and pleasant. Food served normally but not during present Covid restrictions. Only concern was security. Anyone can gain access to the property from various points - road, nearby bridge, inlet - unseen by staff. (Local kids were using the first floor landing to store their things while they swam by the bridge.) Room door locks barely kept the door closed. Still, a nice place to stay for a short getaway.

Loved this place. Very clean! Great location. Was disappointed that there was no refrigerator. The website did not state that there was but it would have been more convenient than keeping ice in cooler.

Got a call to figure out if I’d check-in by 6p. No big deal, but then I walk into room, see fire detector detached from wall on a table, wall naked with hole for it, call attendant who said the manager had tried to get it fixed with no luck, would try the next day. Next day: same thing, tried but no luck. I say when you’re running a hotel you don’t “try” to make rooms proper, you make it happen.
