Tar Heel Motel

Had a great stay here. As others have said very unassuming from the outside but the inside is nice and cozy. We checked in late evening on Easter and although there wasn't an attendant on site at the time we were helped with check-in remotely. The room we were given hadn't had linens changed but that was likely our fault as we changed our reservation check in to a day earlier on the morning of. Nevertheless we were accommodated very quickly and effortlessly to another well prepared room. We loved the ability to have our dog present with us, I think that is a major plus for your motel as we noticed many other guests had theirs as well.nThe location is excellent as there are 2 public beach access entrances within walking distance (one almost literally across the street). There are plenty of shops (outlet across the street) and restaurants nearby. The Dunes restaurant is even right on the edge of the property and an easy walk for breakfast/dinner. I was only slightly disappointed with a few things, the pool not being open yet, I couldn't get the gas grills to work but that was likely my fault, and I didn't see the corn hole boards out that I saw in your pictures. The kids and I did have fun playing horseshoes however.nAll of our needs were met, someone is on site every day cleaning the rooms and taking out trash. Any extra towels or amenity requests we made were promptly addressed.nWe will be staying here again, thank you

Pretty unassuming from the outside. Rooms were VERY clean and comfortable. Nice updated features and small appliances. Kim, who booked our reservation, was very friendly. Convenient location just across from beach.

Good: Location, easy check in and service, very comfortable and clean bed.nnBad: Tiny bathroom in our unit. It was tight for me just to sit down on the toilet. Felt like an RV size. A/C seemed to work but could not get the fan to stay on.nnThis motel has been renovated and is a nice place to stay if on a budget. I probably will be trying somewhere else on my next trip due to the small bathroom and shower. The mattresses are newer and that was the best thing about the place. Not as nice on the outside as the inside.nnIf you just want a nice clean bed in Nags Head for a good price this is a great place to stay.

Awesome spot! Stayed last July and planning to stay here again this summer! 10/10 would recommend. Friendly staff, clean rooms as well as the pool and corn hole boards were a great addition!

Love this cozy and quaint place. Staff members are a delight! Would highly recommend.
