Whalebone Ocean Cottages by KEES Vacations

Girls weekend trip turned into vacation at roach motel. Upon checking in and getting settled in our rooms , one of the bathrooms had a baby roach (appeared to be the size of large ant ) on the bathroom counter, no biggie killed it and kept unpacking . A few minutes later there was another one noticed on the floor headed for the vanity, unable to catch that one now feeling a little concerned . After dinner we come back to cottage turn on lights and see THREE roaches in the kitchen. A small one going up the center island , one across the kitchen floor , and one in the empty cabinet where the cutting boards were stored. The next morning we go to make coffee , coffee pot was broke so we were going to utilize the Keurig. We willed up the Keurig and there was a baby roach , still alive , in the water reservoir . At this point we call to let them know. Were told they’re not roaches but water bugs and are indigenous to the area. Same evening while in the kitchen to eat dinner , a huge roach runs across the floor under the refrigerator . If we had not been so far from home we would have packed up and been gone. We had to leave the cottage to go to the store to buy roach spray. The cottage we stayed in was cottage C , perhaps not all of them are infested , however this unit most certainly is . Disgusting .

We love the Whalebone Cottages. As a family of 4, it is tough to find reasonable houses - especially if you want something oceanfront! Well look no further than Whalebone. Honestly, I waited 6 months to write this review because I wanted to ensure we booked our dates for 2020 before I wrote about how amazing it was...nnThis is a very small community with a shared pool. The pool is plenty large enough for the 8 houses in the neighborhood and on many occasions, we were the only ones there. The pool has comfortable lounge chairs and a restroom.nnThe decking and walk way to the beach are very well done and in fabulous condition with this being a newer property. We found the beach in this area to not be too crowded. There were lifeguards further down the beach and beach patrol drove by often.nnThe house we stayed in (Cottage C) could not have been more perfect. It was very nicely decorated and in great condition. The AC worked well, the fridge was cold, the beds were super comfortable, and all of the bathrooms were very nice. There were plenty of dishes, pots, pans, mixing bowls, etc.nnOne of my favorite things about this property is that you can book for any start and end day. Last year we stayed for 12 days and this year we are booking 10. With the reasonable rates we can stay a little longer and really get relaxed at the beach!nnI was also impressed with Kees as a management company. I have stayed in properties in OBX managed by just about all of the rental companies and I was most impressed with Kees. They responded to my emails within hours and were more than happy to bring another set of linens when needed. One night there was a storm and a shutter blew loose and when I called in the morning - someone was on site in less than an hour. Similarly, when the propane ran out on our grill, someone came and replaced it within 30 minutes - amazing service! It was like we were at a resort.

So far it's been epic! One for the books that for sure!

We rented B a month or more ahead of time.beach front.they had given it to some one else so we had to take C .no beach front. The place was dirty had to go buy cleaning supplies ans clean 2 hours befor we could use it.then we did not have enough towels.the first night.we had to call for towels the second day.hateful maid brought them at 4:48 pm.there was nine of us but we didnt not have one for all on monday.she counter them and said there wasent 9.but they only left 6 first day.nRest of days they left enough after she caused my neice to really be upset.no soap inthe containers.2 rolls tolit paper we finally ask and they gave us 2 more.they never did any changing sheets or making beds or cleaning the only time they came was to give us towels really they should be replaced with real maids.the place was rented by my neice and nephew for our renunion..Joseph and Lesley phillips.
