I had a lovely stay at the Inn On The Rio. The room was clean and comfortable. The motel had an artsy, eclectic feel to it. While the motel isn’t in the middle of town, it’s a short drive from the plaza. I enjoyed every moment and would return in a heart beat.nnRobert, the owner is hospitable, friendly, and helpful. I stayed several nights during a snow storm that recently passed through. Robert was accommodating by allowing me to stay an extra night. He also helped me out with a bag of kitty litter when my rental car got stuck in the parking lot.nnFriendly atmosphere, lovely, enjoyable stay.

The owner was sweet and made it all worth it. It was a rustic feel and we did have to make our way to a coffee shop before 8 am, however at 8 breakfast was served and it was delicious. The property is peaceful and beautiful. I'm not sure if anywhere else would have been better, as it is a pretty small town. It was just fine for a night passing through.

This place is kitschy, but in a really good way. This is not a 5 star luxury resort, but there is no pretentious air that it's supposed to be.nnI was honestly a little reserved when we got here. It was further from town center than I was expecting, but that made it so quiet and peaceful. It's only a couple minute drive, and you're right in downtown.nnThe buildings are older, but pretty well maintained. And the rooms are clean and nicely set up. If you're a bigger guy, like me, the restroom and shower are a little snug but useable. Don't jump in the shower and then turn on the hot water...you'll freeze! It takes a minute for the water to warm up, but then it stays nice and hot.nnThe bed was comfortable for my wife, as she is used to the more solid pillows (she uses a memory foam pillow at home). I slept fine, but it wasn't quite what I am used to at home. If you are really particular about your pillow, I suggest you bring your own.nnOn that front, bring anything you want. You park right in front of your door, so unloading the car is a breeze. There's a nice little seating area in front of each unit. No a/c in the units, but they're pretty well shaded, and we had a nice oscillating fan in the room that helped keep us cooled off.nnThe pool wasn't open for the season yet, but the hot tub was running and ready, and so relaxing. Not overly hot like so many are, and it was fenced in its own private area. It's big enough for a small family to use, and it's single room use currently due to Covid19 restrictions.nnNow, to the absolutely best part. The owners are super friendly, and seem to take a lot of pride in this place. The homemade breakfast was incredible, with great local coffee, homemade bread, and a good serving of homemade food. We had broccoli/pickled red onion/cheddar cheese quiche, and it was delicious. Fresh blueberries and strawberries also! The owners were really helpful as we planned the next leg of our road trip, telling us the most scenic route to take.nnThe only thing that we really kind of missed was that there was no coffee maker in the room. But with breakfast starting at 8a.m., and great coffee there, it really wasn't that big of a deal.nnLike I said, I was a little reserved when we got here, but I'm leaving as a big fan. We wouldn't hesitate to stay here again if we make it down this way again in the future!

But could just be me.nSpiders and bugs found in room.nNo AC.... Heat only, but it is cool at night in the desert.nWood door not highest security but it looks goodnnOverall, if you are looking for that experience of yesteryear, this could be the place for you. The bed was much better than expected as I don't like extra firm mattresses. However, for my money, I'll be staying elsewhere when I return to Taos.
